Football Fridays with Chris Harris Jr & Brandon Krisztal

Broncos in Battle for AFC’s Top Seed | Football Fridays with CHJ & BK

Episode Summary

The Broncos head into the bye at 9–2 after finally slaying the Chiefs, riding a seven-game win streak and emerging as a legitimate contender for the AFC’s No. 1 seed. Chris Harris Jr. and Brandon Krisztal break down a massive division win, the defensive clinic against Patrick Mahomes, Bo Nix’s clutch mastery, and the rising confidence inside the locker room. CHJ dives deep into Ja’Quan McMillian’s breakout performance, Riley Moss’ struggles, and why the Broncos’ defense is “built to beat the Chiefs.” Plus: film-room breakdowns, playoff-seed implications, questionable red-zone trick plays, and a surprise drop-in from Colorado legend Bo Scaife.

Episode Notes

In this week’s Football Fridays, Chris Harris Jr. and Brandon Krisztal examine how the Broncos have transformed into one of the AFC’s most confident teams heading into their bye at 9–2. They open by unpacking Denver’s win over Kansas City, including the defensive game plan that forced Mahomes into mistakes and the clutch throws from Bo Nix that continue to define his season. CHJ highlights the growth of Ja’Quan McMillian, the challenges facing Riley Moss on deep balls, and how the secondary has evolved under Vance Joseph. The film room features detailed breakdowns of key plays, including near-interceptions, coverage technique, and how Denver disguised looks to counter Kansas City's adjustments. Sean Payton’s comments on the psychological turning point of last year’s loss also underline the team’s current mindset. Later, former Texas and NFL tight end Bo Scaife joins the show to talk local football roots and the launch of his new All Pro Cannabis store. The episode closes with CHJ’s picks for Week 12, including why he believes Colts–Chiefs is the most important game in the conference playoff race.

00:00:00:00 - 00:00:24:03

Brandon Krisztal

Hey, the Broncos may have the week off well deserved, but that doesn't mean we're taking the week off. Chris Harris is here, of course. I'm Brandon Crystal and we know what time it is. It's 11:00 mountain time on a Friday and Football Friday starts now.

00:00:24:06 - 00:00:40:25

Brandon Krisztal

Chris, what's going on? I guess I'll start with the bye week itself. Just, you know, quick thought on how important that was to you. You played a decade in the league and I'm curious. You probably had him all. You know I don't have it memorized all your years here, but you I'm sure you had some early one, some middle ones, some late ones.

00:00:40:25 - 00:00:52:18

Brandon Krisztal

Last year the Broncos had the latest possible one, which is that one the weekend after Thanksgiving. But what did you look forward to when you had the bye? And did you have a preference on time of the year?

00:00:52:21 - 00:01:18:07

Chris Harris Jr.

You kind of want it more at the end of the year? Probably mid season. I remember we had it a lot of times like the, like week four. So I always hated that, having them early, but because it just makes the season so much longer. But, you know, I use that time just to recovery, make sure I got my body right, make sure I watch through the first half of the season and, kind of put all my clips together and see where I need to improve on to finish strong for the season.

00:01:18:09 - 00:01:36:20

Chris Harris Jr.

And it's kind of like a, it's kind of a time where you kind of recap what you've done so far and, and in that season and, try to, you know, make sure that you can play better and, you know, see how teams are attacking. You see how what routes are you getting? Are these the same common routes that you're getting by every team and how they're attacking you?

00:01:36:20 - 00:01:40:19

Chris Harris Jr.

So it's just it's kind of a time where you recap yourself.

00:01:40:22 - 00:02:02:00

Brandon Krisztal

So I'm curious to get your thoughts. I heard it Monday or rather Tuesday on where the Harris is with Shelby Harris and Ryan Harris. But, you know, we sometimes have a different audience. The Broncos not only going to the by nine and to riding this seven game win streak and obviously eight wins in a row at home. And slay the dragon.

00:02:02:01 - 00:02:19:12

Brandon Krisztal

Officially there's no qualifiers. There's no oh well this or that. And I know they beat him a couple of years ago with rust, but this version of the Broncos, led by Bo Nix had the Chiefs beaten a year ago. Don't finish it off with that blocked field goal. The game at the end of the year doesn't count, of course, in terms of, you know, getting over that hump.

00:02:19:15 - 00:02:29:06

Brandon Krisztal

And so just give me your your thoughts on how the game unfolded and what it met with the Broncos to win and to win in the manner that the which I won.

00:02:29:08 - 00:02:51:03

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. Just having a great rest plan on Mahomes. You all have to do that. Starting off fast, being able to get on the board fast on the on the Chiefs is always crucial. And, you know, just finishing the game close in that game. In the past we've had, you know, we've kind of beat ourselves with penalties or you know, or maybe let them block a field goal or special teams.

00:02:51:03 - 00:03:09:13

Chris Harris Jr.

It could be anything. You know, we just give them the game. And now I think we've kind of gotten over that. Now we've we've kind of broke that mindset. We feel like they can win every game. And so it's crucial to win at home. And the Broncos are able to do that. The Chiefs have a long way to go to be able to even challenge for the division.

00:03:09:13 - 00:03:27:08

Chris Harris Jr.

I mean, it's pretty much in the Broncos hands now. So that was two. That was I give that two wins in this situation. Right. Because now, it's going to be very hard for them to pass up the Chargers. The Raiders, you know, they're they're they're the bottom of the barrel right now. But they do have to worry about the Chargers.

00:03:27:08 - 00:03:45:14

Chris Harris Jr.

So them having another threat right there. It could make it to where the Chiefs only make the playoffs. So so I like the way I like where the Broncos are nine and two going into the bye. That's probably the best situation you can ask for. And and you could just the games that you did lose, you should have won those games also.

00:03:45:14 - 00:03:49:10

Chris Harris Jr.

So the Broncos could possibly be undefeated right now.

00:03:49:13 - 00:04:03:25

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah, it's funny cuz you can make the case either way. A one score game they could have lost to the Chiefs. We get that. But could they have lost the to the Jets. Could they have lost the Giants. Sure they were trailing that whole game. The point is they won all those games. And then the other two games they were leading the entire fourth quarter.

00:04:03:26 - 00:04:25:09

Brandon Krisztal

You get a fluky leverage penalty on a 60 yard field goal, and then you obviously against the Chargers Benito Zach close to to getting a Justin Herbert a perfect pass to Keenan Allen Riley Moss is that close to getting a fingertip on it. And they probably get out of LA with the win. And so you're going to like their chances against the Chargers in Week 18 when it may not matter.

00:04:25:11 - 00:04:42:10

Brandon Krisztal

And even the week before the Christmas game like you talked about with the Chiefs. We're going to get into that a little bit in our predictions and what the weekend looks like. Because you do have Colts at Chiefs. But let's stick with the Broncos. Get some honors this week. No surprise I as he made the game winner I made my you know final post of the game before you get to post game.

00:04:42:10 - 00:05:00:12

Brandon Krisztal

And I said don't be surprised. Well that's going to be the special teams player of the week five for five. The game winner. Obviously he's been great all year. We know he had the miss against the Raiders and you had one other miss all season. But he's been money. Well what do you think about just the confidence they have in Lutz where I think Sean Payton basically knew it was in.

00:05:00:12 - 00:05:03:27

Brandon Krisztal

If you saw that clip where he's looking looking away knowing that it's good, I guess.

00:05:03:29 - 00:05:19:18

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. Well, that's a man's, you know, when we want to ask the ball run back was hard at that time. You know, he was making everything. And Lutz has been pretty hot since he's gotten here, you know, very clutch. I got to play with him in New Orleans. He was clutch there. So this guy gets it done.

00:05:19:18 - 00:05:41:04

Chris Harris Jr.

He's, very trustworthy to do his job. And, you know, the whole team has confidence in him. If the game's on the line, he's got to knock it down. So, that's that's a weapon. That champagne's using to his advantage. And, you know, when everybody has confidence in you like that, and you go out there to kick that field goal, that just that just, you know, that puts in your head that I can make this.

00:05:41:07 - 00:05:45:25

Chris Harris Jr.

I can make every single one. Especially when you have everybody that believes in you.

00:05:45:27 - 00:06:02:29

Brandon Krisztal

Well. And look he obviously gets a kick up here and he's never tried to shy away from it that you get a little more distance. Obviously the opponents do as well. But this is your home field and it can be a true home field advantage. And the way it's setting up like we were talking about, the Broncos can end up with one, two, three home games at home.

00:06:02:29 - 00:06:19:28

Brandon Krisztal

I mean, I guess if it works out an idea where you want just to at home, have that baby, the number one overall seed have to do it home. But you'll be getting a kick, a mile high. And he's the reigning special teams player of the month. How about this, though, to Sean Payton in his first nine, ten years of coaching, I think had 9 or 10 different kickers.

00:06:20:01 - 00:06:43:16

Brandon Krisztal

And since then, he's only had. Well, let's in the last in the last ten years of his coaching or whatever it is. And a couple of years ago, let's tried to actually kind of follow back after Remax first year in in Jacksonville, the Jags offered him a deal that he agreed to. And thankfully George and Sean Payton were able to talk him into staying in either matching the deal or keeping it close because obviously played in some meaningful games last year and he's playing and in meaningful games this year.

00:06:43:16 - 00:06:58:17

Brandon Krisztal

What stinks, though, and you may remember a time where two players from the same team were named player of the week, and we don't even know what goes into it. You can't vote for it. It's not like the Fedex ground where they're actually taking votes. But Jay Mack, who didn't win Defensive Player of the week, nor did Myles Garrett with his four sacks and a loss.

00:06:58:19 - 00:07:21:19

Brandon Krisztal

Jaquan McMillan. How about two sacks? An interception six tackles. Not since somebody named Chris Harris Jr have the Broncos had a corner with a sack in an eye and T in the same game. Tyler from Broncos PR put that out. Going all the way back to Buffalo in the 2014.

00:07:21:21 - 00:07:26:15

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. Yeah, man. Henderson the block at the right tackle.

00:07:26:17 - 00:07:27:05

Brandon Krisztal

Oh look at that.

00:07:27:12 - 00:07:29:09

Chris Harris Jr.

Obviously I went and got that. You see my pick.

00:07:29:15 - 00:07:30:26

Brandon Krisztal

Has not.

00:07:30:28 - 00:07:35:19

Chris Harris Jr.

Retired. Yeah I just on the retiring skills.

00:07:35:21 - 00:07:40:00

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. So there's there's the pic of your old teammate Kyle Orton.

00:07:40:02 - 00:07:44:03

Chris Harris Jr.

Hey right there. That's what they call it the bang round. I'm playing and scoring right on it.

00:07:44:05 - 00:07:47:01

Brandon Krisztal

I don't think he I don't think the receiver hit the bang part though.

00:07:47:03 - 00:07:49:01

Chris Harris Jr.

They just said I've had enough.

00:07:49:04 - 00:07:57:23

Brandon Krisztal

And then there we go. Hey you. You were not the sack artist a Jaquan McMillan's become, But you'll take that one. They sent you in, you went and got it.

00:07:57:25 - 00:08:01:01

Chris Harris Jr.

Via his public blitz tip in the times that I have also two.

00:08:01:06 - 00:08:08:03

Brandon Krisztal

That's true what I'm saying. You need as much, but you got you got to get him. That's a guard. Gotta do a little loop de loop.

00:08:08:10 - 00:08:28:10

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah, I was covering, you know, they my my biggest attribute was covering. So, you know, it was hard to put the one hour top covers and a blitz, you know. So that was you know, that was kind of I blitzed a lot when I had Jack Del Rio. But you know Wade Phillips didn't blitz me that much at all.

00:08:28:13 - 00:08:44:24

Chris Harris Jr.

You know, Vance blitz it a little bit. Not too much because I was mostly with Vance. I was in the two row, you know. So you don't see two blitzing like that. So it's kind of it was kind of depending on what row and what. But guys that we were playing. But what they Max doing man is, is been great.

00:08:44:24 - 00:09:04:20

Chris Harris Jr.

And I challenged him at the beginning of the year. You know the your undrafted guy. They brought it. They drafted a first round guy. Are you going to be able to stand up, to the competition and keep your spot. And he's done that and he's continuing to play at a high level. So you got to put him in as one, you know, top Nichols in the league, and he's playing it at a high level right now.

00:09:04:23 - 00:09:18:17

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. And what I appreciate about Jay Mack, he's not lacking for confidence. They go out and draft a guy. And this was a question that was asked to him postgame say hey they draft got your position I remember asking him about it. I think I asked the question in training camp. They draft guy at your position, it seems like it's raised his level.

00:09:18:17 - 00:09:38:07

Brandon Krisztal

Same with Riley. And it doesn't mean Johnny Burns. I could be a great player then. Means I can play for a long time. There's probably a scenario where down the road, if Brandon Jones moves on, he's going to be in year three next year, that if you signed Riley to an extension and you like Jay Mack and you keep Jay Mack, that Johnny Baron, I mean, you got 500 snaps at safety.

00:09:38:07 - 00:09:48:26

Brandon Krisztal

But let's let's stick with Jay Mack right now. Here's Jay Mack being asked about hey, they drafted a guy that, you know, was going to come in and maybe play your spot and you did nothing but raise your game.

00:09:48:28 - 00:10:05:04

Speaker 3

Yeah. I think I took you guys earlier. You know, Kemp, Jay man is going to be Jay Mack. I'm always competing. That's every year with me. Jay Mack going to be Jay Mack. I'm the same guy, no matter who they bring in. You know, I love Jay. You know, he's he's been a great Add to the team.

00:10:05:06 - 00:10:23:16

Speaker 3

And it's going to be a good player, you know, but I just do me, you know, keep working hard and go out there and do what I'm told to do. I never worry about the outside noise. And, yeah, just go out there and compete the best I can.

00:10:23:19 - 00:10:32:26

Brandon Krisztal

Let me ask you this. Oh, actually, BK wants to ask Chris this how often? I mean, I know you'll call yourself strapped from time to time, but how often did Chris Harris go third person?

00:10:32:29 - 00:10:34:25

Chris Harris Jr.

Not that much.

00:10:34:27 - 00:10:38:05

Brandon Krisztal

But didn't.

00:10:38:07 - 00:10:57:02

Chris Harris Jr.

I mean, those, you know, those good questions, good thing and good job asking those questions because, they did draft the first round guy. And when you usually spend a first rounder with a secondary that had a pass certain and a Riley Moss all the way already starting, you know, you would figure that would be for his job, right?

00:10:57:02 - 00:11:11:21

Chris Harris Jr.

But he's able to, continue to play at a high level, continue to help. You can tell he could probably just helping, bringing on J.D. as a good vet. And, you know, he's trying to make a staple and make a name for himself. I don't when is he a free agent? So I'm just happy for him to get paid soon.

00:11:11:21 - 00:11:35:27

Brandon Krisztal

And Jay, Jay James, restricted free agent this year. So let's let's go with a scenario where Vance Joseph gets a head coaching job. If I'm Vijay, I'm telling my GM, hey, make this kid a qualifying offer. Make him a three year, $30 million offer. I guess the question is if you're going to pay Jay Mack at that size because he's smaller than you at that size, and you're going to pay maybe not to pay him that much.

00:11:35:27 - 00:12:00:23

Brandon Krisztal

But you know, the Broncos, if they've got him on a restricted, might only bring him back for another million and a half or 2 million, whatever. That deal is kind of like what they've gotten out on. Do you offer him, you know, three years, 21? Can he play outside consistently? Because I think if you're paying a guy more than 2 or 3 million bucks, even though that's an extremely valuable spot, do you think you could see him in BJ's defense being, an outside corner in base, which, you know, you're not in base very much.

00:12:00:26 - 00:12:16:16

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. That's the only thing he can show me that he can consistently play on the outside. Yeah. I don't know how many games he's been able to start on the outside and play. Get a lot of reps out there. I'm not going to say he can't do it, but I haven't seen it at, high clip.

00:12:16:18 - 00:12:34:07

Chris Harris Jr.

I think he will probably get a tender. I was in the same situation. I tore my ACL. I got a second round tender, so I think he'll probably get a, you know, no talent. First, the second round tender. And usually when that happens is they will have to pay him and, trade a, trade for a pick.

00:12:34:09 - 00:12:56:16

Chris Harris Jr.

Right. So I don't see that happening. I see him probably getting tendered and being back next year and then, might say they pay him during the season or he'll go free agent and get paid. So similar situation to me. I end up getting paid during the, at the end of my, fourth year, which is very controversial because I only had like three games and I could have been like a free agent.

00:12:56:19 - 00:13:09:04

Chris Harris Jr.

So, just depends of what agent and how he feels. And if he's comfortable with signing back. The Walton's got plenty of money to be able to bring him back, so, I don't think money's an issue now with the Broncos.

00:13:09:07 - 00:13:27:18

Brandon Krisztal

No, that's something that will always be an advantage for them going forward, is that they have the cash on hand so they they don't have to defer money. They can pay signing bonuses, they can restructure deals in the middle of the year, cut those checks. Obviously, they're the second richest ownership group in all of pro sports, behind only Steve Ballmer with with the Clippers.

00:13:27:18 - 00:13:44:15

Brandon Krisztal

And you know, they don't have to work side deals with fake tree companies like like they did in the NBA. What's funny is we're going to get an NBA thing here a little bit because we, you know, we get into the film room and we we talk about, you know, breaking things down. You prided yourself in how well you can break down film.

00:13:44:15 - 00:14:05:06

Brandon Krisztal

I'm guessing maybe you saw that clip of you the other day talking about Jayson. He was on a podcast. Clearly he is a guy that, you know, learned from his dad, who was an all pro, and he's great in the film room. But how about this from Chris Jones when he's talking about the Broncos offense? I don't know if you saw this, but here's Chris Jones following the game as far as what the Broncos were able to see.

00:14:05:08 - 00:14:21:04

Speaker 3

Great field study for them, as they called it out. I heard them call them now. They actually switched to one. If you watch the film, you can see bonus chemistry still on it so that they, you know, it. We got to do a better job of disguising.

00:14:21:07 - 00:14:37:28

Brandon Krisztal

So that goes to Bo Nix seeing it on that third and 15, the big completion to Courtland on that final, what would be the game winning drive? I imagine that's music to your ears when you hear that that they're diagnosing it so well. Then the Chiefs didn't do anything to take it out of it, because you're going to call a timeout on defense on third and 15.

00:14:38:01 - 00:15:06:03

Chris Harris Jr.

And, that comes all the time in the NFL, right? Third down, crucial downs. Especially early. The coach is still talking until his ear. If if the Chiefs are showing their looks so early, they can move the line, move the have a motion, bring the running back out and then bring them back. And so there's that's what I always try to tell the defensive guys hey let's not show our look until that that made, you know, 15 seconds.

00:15:06:05 - 00:15:20:28

Chris Harris Jr.

Then we can get in our spots in our alignments. But you know, that was on the Chiefs, right? You got to be able to disguise way better than that. Of course, Bo Nix and Sam Payne are ahead the game. That was a great adjustment to make crucial plays down in the fourth quarter. And that's all Bo does.

00:15:21:00 - 00:15:39:15

Chris Harris Jr.

Fourth quarter. He executes at a high clip. And I haven't seen anybody else playing. And and crucial you know the crucial time the clutch moments. You know in NBA they got the clutch moment award whatever we need that in the NFL I don't know if they have that already. But I think Bo would be definitely winning that award right now.

00:15:39:18 - 00:15:58:07

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. First quarterback to have he has eight comebacks, the most of any quarterback in their first two seasons. I realize part of that is you have to play a lot to get that. But he started every game last year, started every game this year. And math, he's got 19 wins, which is, I think second most for a quarterback through two years behind only.

00:15:58:09 - 00:16:18:09

Brandon Krisztal

I'll give you a I'll give you a guess because you probably should have been on the field. You should have been on the field against him. But you had a torn ACL. Fortunately, Russell Wilson won 24 games his first few years. But look, Bo's at 19 with with what, six games to go so Bo could pass. But they they run the table or tie him if they, if they drop one.

00:16:19:15 - 00:16:21:20

Chris Harris Jr.

But he had great defenses.

00:16:21:22 - 00:16:22:27

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah.

00:16:23:00 - 00:16:38:12

Chris Harris Jr.

Great defenses to help them along in their career with those wins. And that's the recipe, right? If you got a young quarterback, you better have a stout defense to be able to help with them and and have some weapons on offense, you know, that can supplement the, you know, with the run game. And and you know, to be able to help them.

00:16:38:12 - 00:16:42:15

Chris Harris Jr.

You know Russell have a Percy Harvin that was major right. He still had some weapons.

00:16:42:17 - 00:17:12:12

Brandon Krisztal

It. Well yeah. Yeah. Garvin and Marshawn Lynch. And then he had the Legion of Boom and and those dudes up front led by Bobby Wagner in the middle. So yeah, and Bo's got something similar. Now, you mentioned NBA, and I touched on it too, listening to Chris Jones when he said this on Sunday. Made me think immediately of Joker Nikola Jokic in Minnesota, where Chris Finch, your head coach, was with Michael Malone here for a bunch of years and really helped kind of evolve the offense to go through Joker and so this is this is Joker.

00:17:12:12 - 00:17:24:01

Brandon Krisztal

After they played the Timberwolves exactly the year the Timberwolves knocked him out of the playoffs. This is during the season. Check out check out the locker room. And Rudy Gobert and Anthony Edwards talking about Joker's ability to diagnose.

00:17:24:03 - 00:17:25:00

Chris Harris Jr.

I'm sorry I'm sorry.

00:17:25:00 - 00:17:50:02

Speaker 4

No hey I was just telling having with him to play with me. But that was crazy. Oh, we'll give you all the stars on alert. You come know we'll go right now looking through the play. But we don't say anything. That this was smart enough to play better than us. What do think we all the time out the whole year we had a little bit of, you know, like saying, hey, he's going to come over here.

00:17:50:05 - 00:17:52:14

Speaker 4

They know what.

00:17:52:16 - 00:18:21:16

Brandon Krisztal

He's helping them. He knows where they're going to go before they even call the play. Because, you know, I mean, that really is some next level stuff. So it's good to hear that the Broncos are doing that on offense, where you know that it certainly hasn't been as smooth as it's been on on defense. Well, so speaking of slaying the dragon, this was Sean Payton when he was asked about coming here and knowing that obviously the Chiefs were at the at the pinnacle of this division for so long.

00:18:21:18 - 00:18:39:21

Brandon Krisztal

Right. I got David on the quick switch, but Sean's going to trust me. Sean's going to talk about the Chiefs here very shortly. And what it meant to beat them. And and actually heard Vance Joseph two talking to Peter Schrager saying that they are built to beat the Chiefs. That was what they talked about when they came here was to beat the Chiefs.

00:18:39:21 - 00:18:44:29

Brandon Krisztal

And they've got the defense for it. So I'm going to guess David we're probably ready now. Here's Chicago talking about.

00:18:45:01 - 00:19:02:25

Speaker 3

And all of us were there. We had a Thursday night game was the first time we played them. And we defensively played them really well on that Thursday night game. We were awful on offense and we had a poor plan.

00:19:02:28 - 00:19:25:17

Speaker 3

Then we played them at home and we took the ball away five times and had a decisive win. So we were split with them at that point. Last year, obviously the last game of the season was a different game. I think this I think that loss and Kansas City was where the one 89mph was tested. And that was a tough, gut wrenching loss.

00:19:25:19 - 00:19:38:02

Speaker 3

But I think there was a feeling. And if you look at our record from that loss, there was a feeling that.

00:19:38:04 - 00:19:44:20

Speaker 3

You know, we belong here. And, and so.

00:19:44:22 - 00:20:01:10

Speaker 3

And I think it was there, there's either wins or losses. But the response after that game last year with the block field goal, you know, was was super. And

00:20:01:13 - 00:20:10:08

Speaker 3

And so there was some irony, obviously, when we were taking a knee to kick the field goal, but,

00:20:10:10 - 00:20:35:24

Speaker 3

I just, you know, I, I think that that confidence thing that we always talk about exists in that locker room with these, this group of guys. It's special. And, so, but, you know, they'll have some time to recover and then get ready for that next stretch. The six games I think we're three home, three away. If I'm not mistaken.

00:20:35:26 - 00:20:54:05

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. So you can you can sense I mean, look, you were at them a little bit, but you watch every game. And whether it's the way Adam Trautman went out his way to have Bo Nix is back, the way the defense talks about the offense. And they're never down on them for not necessarily playing up to the level that they would hope or make it easier.

00:20:54:08 - 00:21:10:12

Brandon Krisztal

You can tell that it is a special team, and John's comments from the summer to every national person that came by our kind of coming to fruition, that this team can win a Super Bowl. He didn't say, we're winning the Super Bowl. He said. This is one of those special teams and it looks like he's right.

00:21:10:15 - 00:21:30:23

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. When you see that, know when you have a tough losses like that and you they kind of change your season and you ride that momentum. There's they that change them and their mental aspect of the game right now. They feel like they could play with them. They, they felt like, they can beat them every time that they have no more fear with them.

00:21:30:26 - 00:21:53:24

Chris Harris Jr.

And, you can tell it looks like, you know, Mahomes was tiptoeing a little bit more in the pocket. Right. And he's not very comfortable going against the Broncos anymore. So now Sean Payton has been able to, transfer those guys mind, to feeling like they can win every game, especially versus the Chiefs. So hopefully the Colts, are able to, you know, still beat the Chiefs.

00:21:53:24 - 00:22:09:28

Chris Harris Jr.

I'm not really worried about them getting the number one seed. Broncos control their own destiny right now. But if the Colts can knock them down this week, you know, that'd be great to be able to, you know, send Mahomes an impact. And for the year, they'll have a low percentage to make it into the playoffs.

00:22:09:28 - 00:22:28:09

Chris Harris Jr.

And then, you know, the Broncos are going to have to deal with the Patriots. The Colts, probably the Steelers that might win that division even though, they're not playing very well. And Lamar is coming back. So it's going to be very interesting. And but the Broncos right now they're sitting at a very great place with a lot of confidence.

00:22:28:12 - 00:22:43:07

Brandon Krisztal

Okay. Final thing before we jump into the film room right. Because this is the last thing I asked but even did it off mic. But he had kind of brought it up in whatever his last answer was. Because I had asked him just about the what he got from the offense and RJ Harvey. And then he talks about he mentioned the throwback.

00:22:43:07 - 00:23:02:12

Brandon Krisztal

So I asked him specifically, hey, take us through the throwback. Is and I swear, I swear to God, I told actually, d Mac this in the press box as I was driving down, I'm like, you know what? RJ Harvey threw 43 touchdowns in high school. As a senior. He went to UVA as a quarterback. I get that he's five nine on his best day.

00:23:02:18 - 00:23:20:28

Brandon Krisztal

So what was going to be the next Kyler Murray? No. And he goes and becomes a running back. But I wanted to tweet. Hey, I wouldn't be surprised seeing RJ Harvey throwback now. Did I expect to see it in the red zone right there on first and ten and he lets it rip. Anyway, we're both turned into Chris Harris Jr who played me good.

00:23:20:28 - 00:23:35:17

Brandon Krisztal

Throw in terms of placement of the ball. Terrible decision. And look at Bo sitting there telling look Riley, that's all you have to do. It says Riley Moss. No, you don't have to get pass interference. But what do you think of this play call that first and goal on the on the 15.

00:23:35:20 - 00:23:54:12

Chris Harris Jr.

I mean, I think it was a bad play call. You know, usually you run those calls after, change of, possession, quick change or interception or fumble, you know, big play on the defensive side or but they come out, you know, doing this in the red zone or you like to do it in the fringe area.

00:23:54:15 - 00:24:08:00

Chris Harris Jr.

I think it's a little once you get inside the 15, it's not let's play. Let's use our best plays to be able to execute. And just getting to end zone. We shouldn't have to do too many trick trickery. You know, a lot of guys do it in a two point conversions. I understand that right. But not right here.

00:24:08:00 - 00:24:10:09

Chris Harris Jr.

First and ten. That's a terrible call to me.

00:24:10:15 - 00:24:28:13

Brandon Krisztal

They're also doing an out of shotgun faking a sweep when that's not a play that they've run. And the way this play always works is set it up with an actual sweep. So put ball under center. And I don't even need to see the throw back to Bo where I want to see this is toss, sweep under center out, a single back or whatever, whatever the formation is.

00:24:28:15 - 00:24:46:18

Brandon Krisztal

And then, you know, whether you're letting personnel, 12 personnel, I don't care. But toss, sweep, run, the sweep and then but be on the minus side of the 50 or, you know, just inside, just pass a midfield and then let him hit one of his receivers have a couple of choices. We're both not even a factor other than a decoy, maybe.

00:24:46:20 - 00:25:01:20

Brandon Krisztal

But run the sweep first and then let us because now everybody knows they're reminded. Oh yeah, that kid was a quarterback. So now we got it. It will keep everybody every time they run anything to the outside, at least thinking about it. If I'm Harvey every now and then go to fake just to get a DB or a linebacker frozen.

00:25:01:21 - 00:25:12:15

Brandon Krisztal

Here's Bo talking about it. I think our guys started to give up on not to throw it. Well, yeah, I mean, at that point,

00:25:12:18 - 00:25:21:09

Speaker 3

We that's, in practice it was more open than that. But, but I knew when the ball was in the air and I said.

00:25:21:09 - 00:25:22:22

Chris Harris Jr.

You did a good job. And I was like, I'm.

00:25:22:22 - 00:25:26:05

Brandon Krisztal

Not going to let this be intercepted. So.

00:25:26:07 - 00:25:27:05

Speaker 3

You know, I tried to show off.

00:25:27:05 - 00:25:30:00

Brandon Krisztal

My DB skills, but at the same time, you know, those plays are gimmicky.

00:25:30:00 - 00:25:34:19

Speaker 3

It's either they're not and worst case is like, you know, they throw a pick or something.

00:25:34:19 - 00:25:42:14

Brandon Krisztal

So when the ball was in the air, I knew it wasn't going to be like open. So just get the ball on the ground and then go to the next play.

00:25:42:17 - 00:25:57:17

Brandon Krisztal

So he teased it a little bit there. And now, as we do every week, this is the highlight and a lot of people's opinion of our show here on Football Fridays. Let's hop into the Chris Harris Jr film room.

00:25:57:19 - 00:26:19:25

Brandon Krisztal

All right. So we have a number of plays. David, I guess we'll do this chronologically. Let's start with let's get the bat out of the way. We'll get the bat out of the way. And I t's Bo, can show Riley Moss's how to do it. Let's look at Riley Moss's not one, but 240 plus yard pass interference calls.

00:26:19:27 - 00:26:32:07

Chris Harris Jr.

Yep. Right here. And a, three. Same kind of. So it turns out to be match one. Turns out to be straight man for Riley. Let's see how he played the ball down the field.

00:26:32:10 - 00:26:35:24

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah, man, I feel bad for the kid. He's he's had tons of pitches all year.

00:26:35:24 - 00:26:38:06

Brandon Krisztal

Nine. Nobody else in the league has more than five.

00:26:38:12 - 00:27:00:17

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. Right there. He just needs to turn and keep running. Right. Put that right shoulder. Right. You got to turn and put that shoulder in and turn and look and lean right. He's grabbing. That's a PR man. Just go play the ball right. I think that's, inexcusable that that means, like, something that means you're not comfortable playing deep routes.

00:27:00:19 - 00:27:01:23

Chris Harris Jr.

That's this. I say this.

00:27:01:23 - 00:27:12:15

Brandon Krisztal

Is the fastest guy in the league to at least vertically based on the sporty. But yeah, get your body on him and use the sideline. And if he gets behind you, I guess you shake his hand or turn and make a play on the ball like you said.

00:27:12:18 - 00:27:29:16

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah man. If you if he turns and looks and lean, he's in a good solid position. Right. But if he if he turns and looks at maybe he sees the ball's going a little bit farther ahead, then he can just run and try to play. Where are these hands? Right. He shouldn't have to grab them right there.

00:27:29:16 - 00:27:33:04

Chris Harris Jr.

So that just shows that he's still uncomfortable playing the deep balls.

00:27:33:07 - 00:27:37:26

Brandon Krisztal

All right, here's a second one.

00:27:37:28 - 00:27:44:21

Brandon Krisztal

This one didn't love, but it's on Hollywood. Brown.

00:27:44:23 - 00:27:48:27

Brandon Krisztal

I mean, you're in okay position. I guess he thinks he's going to skate right by him.

00:27:48:29 - 00:28:12:15

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah, they'll they'll give you that because you see that right arm? Yeah, I see that right arm over that shoulder pad. They're going to call that every time. And, I think that's a terrible call. Also because it's a terrible throw. Right. Yeah. That's I feel like that's a non catchable kind of right there, you know, pretty close.

00:28:12:18 - 00:28:30:04

Chris Harris Jr.

But that's Mahomes, you know, being a quarterback that he is knowing that he can just throw a chunk at some deep and then have a high chance of getting a PR. Moss. So Moss has to get a little bit more comfortable playing down the field, which is going to issue it has to click soon. Right. We got big games coming up.

00:28:30:07 - 00:28:33:02

Chris Harris Jr.

And they're going to keep trying them down the field.

00:28:33:04 - 00:28:49:29

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. And he's coming back. So he's going to get if he doesn't get enough attention he's going to get even more with with the best defensive player in football writing the defensive player of the year coming back. All right. Let's let's we're going to keep it's going to keep getting better. As we go through today's edition of the Film Room, Chris Abrams and you talk about, playing a ball down the field.

00:28:50:06 - 00:28:54:14

Brandon Krisztal

Here's a quick look. You know, a kid who's getting obviously extended snaps with the ops two.

00:28:54:16 - 00:29:13:29

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah, that's great coverage. He was great on the line. Play the ball in the air. Perfect. I love his kick step right. You see him look back. That's a timely look back right. You got to time it right at the right time. When those hands go up you got to be able to look back right in time. And he did that.

00:29:13:29 - 00:29:23:17

Chris Harris Jr.

That's a perfect rep. Especially on that side looking at that, that left off that left shoulder. I mean, that's beautiful. And he knows rice isn't a speed guy.

00:29:23:20 - 00:29:34:12

Brandon Krisztal

And look and you look at his right hand, there's a little, little bit of contact, but it's not egregious. He's not pulling on anything. It's it's solid placement as far as because.

00:29:34:14 - 00:29:44:10

Chris Harris Jr.

He's moving into him, but he's not grabbing him. Right. That right on right there can be there as well. Guys, as long as, he's still looking back and playing the ball.

00:29:44:13 - 00:29:59:23

Brandon Krisztal

Right. And he's not grabbing. He's I mean, because look, there's obviously there's, he's pulling on but he's in tight. It's sort of like a defensive lineman. And they don't get called for holding if they're in tight the second the guy pulls away, just like we saw with Riley's first one. Okay. So let's look at their glove.

00:29:59:26 - 00:30:10:26

Chris Harris Jr.

You got the white gloves on, right? Gloves that can hide something. A little tug that you can have. I don't know what gloves Riley Moss is wearing, but whatever he's playing, he needs to match the gloves.

00:30:10:28 - 00:30:27:07

Brandon Krisztal

Well, Riley does like to wear the white sleeves because he doesn't want to. He doesn't want everybody to remember he's the white quarterback, so he's trying to be camouflaged. It's not working. All right, so I said we're going to keep it's going to keep getting better. How about Donovan who's played like an all pro but missed not one.

00:30:27:07 - 00:30:40:21

Brandon Krisztal

But I think two chances it in TES and maybe even a pick six. This is early and he has come in for Kelsey but or I'm sorry for Hollywood. Yeah. Right. Right. But look at what happens if he just has his eyes up right.

00:30:40:24 - 00:30:58:26

Chris Harris Jr.

And that is going to save the day. He really wasn't imposed to be there. That's the linebackers up. Right. And that's what they do. They try to match rice or linebackers. He was able to mix the guy up right. Hufanga has great awareness. So he's there to help him. And he almost saved the day. And he almost gets an interception.

00:30:58:28 - 00:31:05:26

Chris Harris Jr.

Right. So I would call this like a bonus pick, right? You're not supposed to be there. But you end up into the get there and you make the play.

00:31:05:26 - 00:31:17:08

Brandon Krisztal

So just great. Greenlaw got too hard to, when he's sliding out in cover. I'm sorry I had yeah. Does he go does he a little too far over to see how he's now chasing. Because he has Greenlaw on the other side of him there.

00:31:17:10 - 00:31:38:10

Chris Harris Jr.

Yes. So inside out, inside out by the backer. Don't push out with that. That's a staple route. They love running joke routes on the linebackers. Yeah. And they created that with that motion. Right. And, so when they put that fast motion, Stannard has to be able to play inside out. Don't worry about verticals because he knows he has was yeah.

00:31:38:12 - 00:31:50:19

Chris Harris Jr.

He has to find the right behind him. Right. So but it's hard for linebackers to guard these receivers, man. Only, I've only seen a couple really go out there and lock down receivers. Thanks, Robert. That was one of them.

00:31:50:21 - 00:31:57:25

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah, right. But look okay, here's another half on a play.

00:31:57:27 - 00:32:16:06

Chris Harris Jr.

That was beautiful two. That's a hard pick though that. Yeah yeah. It's coming fast. And you really don't even expect to get the ball coming there. But he should pick that it hit both his hands. Right. I expect who for a guy like who for actually. Oh okay. Kelsey took the two. So that's a good preview man.

00:32:16:06 - 00:32:18:07

Chris Harris Jr.

That's a good play.

00:32:18:09 - 00:32:33:03

Brandon Krisztal

And then you know I said we saved the best for last. They obviously got two to Patrick with three sacks. Pressured him plenty. But why don't we jump to our final play set of plays. Oh, wait. You know what? No, because we got the Yankees. Sorry. Sorry, David. I'm.

00:32:33:05 - 00:32:34:05

Chris Harris Jr.

David. Thanks, man.

00:32:34:07 - 00:32:40:11

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. So here, this is. This is John Barron's. Should have been a pick six.

00:32:40:14 - 00:32:42:12

Brandon Krisztal

Terrible throw keys.

00:32:42:14 - 00:32:50:27

Chris Harris Jr.

Terrible throw. But yeah, you got to make those guys pay. That's a pick six back to back weeks. Did they call it. They call it a flag and took it away. Yeah.

00:32:51:00 - 00:32:57:05

Brandon Krisztal

They call it on Riley here for incidental contact. I mean, that is weeks.

00:32:57:08 - 00:33:20:21

Chris Harris Jr.

Man. That's right. That's good defense by Riley. That's best. That's definitely not a PR. Definitely not a PR. Great. Eyes by Ben. He's coming on the tide in the tight end stopper. Right. The Broncos are been getting killed by the tight ends, but now we've got some guy that can cover off. So it's been working as a weapon.

00:33:20:26 - 00:33:26:03

Chris Harris Jr.

The way coach Vance Joseph is using them, and, he's doing a great job.

00:33:26:05 - 00:33:44:13

Brandon Krisztal

And then, as we go from what should have been a pick six do we have on that play? Because it was kind of the highlight of the day. Are we, the Sean Payton's running with the ref that was on. Oh was on the next play was on Jay Mack's pick. So I guess David let's let's see what Jack was able to.

00:33:44:13 - 00:33:55:26

Brandon Krisztal

There's some bad throws on this drive by. Perhaps the best quarterback we've seen maybe ever certainly since Tom Brady I mean yeah I don't know what he's trying to do here man.

00:33:56:01 - 00:34:23:17

Chris Harris Jr.

When you get in here and you get in that pressure and you don't really have all the trust in your receivers, yeah, you start pressing and press. And that's what's happening in my heart with Mahomes. He's pressing. He's trying to make every play like he thinks they're coming easy like they have in the past. For if he doesn't have the weapons like he had and now it's damn near an even playing field and he's he's getting himself in trouble week to week making these type of plays in the red zone, throwing interceptions.

00:34:23:20 - 00:34:38:18

Chris Harris Jr.

And the Broncos did a great job of capitalizing on it right here. We got to find a way to get in the zone right there man. Hey he can't lose the ball. But other than that great play by Jay Max and having eyes on Mahomes staying active in the play and being able to go get that interception that was you.

00:34:38:18 - 00:34:44:05

Chris Harris Jr.

That was a game changer. Anytime you can stop in the red zone, that's that's a big play.

00:34:44:07 - 00:34:52:21

Brandon Krisztal

All right. So that'll do it for us in the film room. I don't know if we hit the.

00:34:52:24 - 00:35:16:07

Brandon Krisztal

But do we have do we have the Sean Payton play. I don't know if we do or not of Sean and his his running with the refs. If we do it. Well, yeah. So, that but just it just, I mean, like you played a million games, do you remember, have you had any. Because we had the Tomlin running into the ref on purpose couple of years ago where you got fine.

00:35:16:09 - 00:35:22:23

Brandon Krisztal

But did you have any games where your coach had any incidental contact penalties with the ref.

00:35:22:25 - 00:35:49:14

Chris Harris Jr.

I don't think so. I think Foxy was pretty crappy. Kubiak was pretty careful. I don't think he was running. We were. We didn't have that that much success at that. I can't remember. Maybe I remember guys now. I remember players running into the coaches now. You know where it got blasted one year. I mean, every year, you know, it always happens in the NFL, but, we haven't had anybody run to the ref like a murmur.

00:35:49:16 - 00:36:00:20

Brandon Krisztal

Did you ever see a teammate or somebody at one point? Like, do you ever see a devastating sideline injury or a sideline collision for somebody that was, you know, not expected to be part of the play.

00:36:00:22 - 00:36:09:09

Chris Harris Jr.

That that's what I'm saying. Way like, oh my God, I don't remember happening to a player. Guys are pretty aware on the sideline. But wait, I mean, where are you?

00:36:09:11 - 00:36:15:09

Brandon Krisztal

Not here. Yes, here it is.

00:36:15:11 - 00:36:27:15

Brandon Krisztal

I mean, look, you can't be in the white. That's why Sean McVay has to get back. Coach, you can't be there. And Vance kind of helps him up. That was that was on game aspect. That did stand.

00:36:27:18 - 00:36:45:23

Chris Harris Jr.

The legs man. Yeah. You got to get you got to get back coach. You know hey especially where these refs are, you know, they they they're making it tighter and tighter on, what the penalties are, what, the sideline because guys will find them themselves on the field. That's definitely celebrating and things like that.

00:36:45:23 - 00:37:02:27

Chris Harris Jr.

So, you know, hopefully Coach Payne's okay, man, he probably has some bumps and bruises, but, it it happens all the time. It's a, it's a, it's part of the NFL, man. When especially when you get grown man with all these emotions and testosterone going on on the sideline, it's bound to happen.

00:37:03:00 - 00:37:21:16

Brandon Krisztal

All right. There's no way to do this smoothly. But I've never hosted a talk show. So if, this would be just, like doing The Tonight Show or let's just have Bo come in now. So we're going to have local legend, one of the best football players in the history of Colorado. In both games come by, and but he's got to walk into the shot.

00:37:21:16 - 00:37:38:08

Brandon Krisztal

We're going to do it just like. Yeah, right here. Don't sit where I'm sitting. Oh come on, come on. Here. So both game legend from Mullen High School, the proprietor of all Pro Farms. I didn't realize this, Bo, that you and Chris Harris, despite you being around, telling you I never really met or really spent much time.

00:37:38:14 - 00:37:43:09

Brandon Krisztal

Maybe your paths crossed here and there, but. But Chris said that y'all hadn't really hadn't really talked much.

00:37:43:10 - 00:37:52:08

Bo Scaife

Yeah, man. The Jayhawks man, they don't really mess with the Longhorns, man. You know how it goes. But you know, I, I can understand why. You know fourth and 18.

00:37:52:10 - 00:37:54:22

Brandon Krisztal

Oh man man.

00:37:54:25 - 00:37:55:06

Bo Scaife

See.

00:37:55:09 - 00:38:13:08

Brandon Krisztal

See what's tricky about this Chris real quick is my whole family went to Texas. I grew up in Dallas. I have friends that all went to Texas, my friends that played with Bo and Chris Simms and and on down the line, around my age or little, little older knew little older than Bo, but obviously I chose to be a Jayhawk.

00:38:13:09 - 00:38:33:20

Brandon Krisztal

So I can't, you know, sit here and just let the jokes get picked on too much. But the way it would go for me, because Texas always played. Oh you early in the what we call the Texas oh you game where you're from because Chris is from Tulsa. They call it oh you Texas. And when I lived in Oklahoma City for that year that I did radio there's like the Oklahoma no, it's the Texas Oklahoma game.

00:38:33:22 - 00:38:49:11

Brandon Krisztal

But because that game usually happens early October, if Texas won that game, then by the time Longhorns play the Jayhawks and if they're playing for something, you had back to back where they all went to the Rose Bowl. You went your senior year, and then they won the national championship the year, your rookie year in the pros. Right?

00:38:49:14 - 00:39:07:10

Brandon Krisztal

I was pull in for that was one more Mangino of course because before you got there he's like BCS dollar signs in the press conference because Vince went nuts. And in Lawrence that's when I'll cheer for the Longhorns. These days, it doesn't bother me as much as the Longhorns in the SEC now, but, like, it's tough because I have plenty of love for the Longhorns.

00:39:07:10 - 00:39:13:14

Brandon Krisztal

But I'm a I chose to be a Jayhawk. And so you come in here talking about Jayhawks. Longhorns. Like we can. We can be friends.

00:39:13:15 - 00:39:30:22

Bo Scaife

They gave me one of my. They probably send me one of my first recruiting letters. And you know, I know I went to a couple camps out there, you know, it was when I was a young kid. So, you know, when you grow up, you respect all the colleges that recruited you and came after, you know. So, I mean, I was just fortunate to be able to go to Texas, which was a great experience.

00:39:30:22 - 00:39:48:12

Bo Scaife

But, you know, never knocking any of the other schools. I respect all the schools, especially the big 12. You know, we always had to hold it down together because all the SEC schools were always talking noise. They got the best conference this and then and you know, so we was always big 12 and I supported those guys. And listen there's a bunch of great players that have came out.

00:39:48:14 - 00:39:51:16

Bo Scaife

You know. Q so respect to you guys.

00:39:51:18 - 00:40:10:15

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah. Sorry, man. Nice to see you, man. And, thanks for joining the show. We see that you got things going and getting your business and everything going, man. Yeah, that, but yeah, like you said, man, Texas is the joint sec. They're doing solid. But we did get some key wins I think goes live PokerStars and wins, you know.

00:40:10:15 - 00:40:11:05

Chris Harris Jr.

Oh yeah.

00:40:11:07 - 00:40:15:21

Bo Scaife

Yeah, I got y'all got Charlie power, man. Y'all got Charlie fired.

00:40:15:23 - 00:40:22:18

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah, we did get Charlie fired. But I just want to say salute to y'all, man. I gotta head out. But thanks for joining the show.

00:40:22:24 - 00:40:36:04

Brandon Krisztal

For sure. Real quick is our one game, so we're going to get through all of them. But you got Colts Chiefs kind of the game of the week. Eagles Cowboys in your backyard. Rams and the Bucs who have dropped two straight. Is there one game you're most excited about. Because we're gonna go through the picks on a couple of games.

00:40:36:04 - 00:40:47:16

Brandon Krisztal

But game because you mentioned I like where you heads out with Colts and Chiefs. Everyone's like, oh you want the Chiefs to win. So the Broncos get home field. No one's worried if you have to go to end. If you end up the two seed you don't want the Chiefs in the playoffs if you can get them out of the playoffs.

00:40:47:16 - 00:40:51:21

Brandon Krisztal

Right. So that's why you and I are on the same page. Is that your game the weekend?

00:40:51:23 - 00:41:08:14

Chris Harris Jr.

Yeah I mean I want I need to choose the lose right. Let's knock them out. Let's let's get them up out of here. Right. And then there'll be a battle between the Patriots. The Broncos and the Colts for the number one seed. But you know, first two seeds get that by anyways. But I have seven teams.

00:41:08:14 - 00:41:10:04

Brandon Krisztal

You only get one by now. Remember, I don't.

00:41:10:06 - 00:41:32:13

Chris Harris Jr.

Want to by. I'm sorry. Yeah. One by one. Now that they added the other team. But I do like, another big game. I do like the, the, the Cowboys versus the Eagles because the Cowboys didn't look much improved even though they're playing the Raiders. The D-line look very stout. Being able to have Quinnen Williams in there, new linebackers in place, hopefully they can get it rolling.

00:41:32:15 - 00:41:45:06

Chris Harris Jr.

Out here. So I didn't get the buzz out here, but they do. People out here do believe that they are going to beat the Eagles. I don't know why I maybe the maybe the Cowboys think they can win every game. But they do believe they can win this week.

00:41:45:09 - 00:42:02:04

Brandon Krisztal

Hey, if you wanna talk about irrational fan bases the Cowboys have one of the best ones Chris. It's all it's always great. Next week we will have a Football Friday coming up during Black Friday football. But we're still going to be doing our Football Friday show. I will be in DC already. We got maybe some special things in the works.

00:42:02:04 - 00:42:03:05

Brandon Krisztal

We're gonna cross our fingers.

00:42:03:06 - 00:42:05:11

Chris Harris Jr.

Kind of give my man kind of give.

00:42:05:13 - 00:42:18:11

Brandon Krisztal

Me, see if we can get one, see if we can get Von Miller. He's got his own podcasting going. So, if we can work that out. But either way, you and I'll talk. We'll also bright check in with Nikki Dybala there who covers as well. So we'll let you run. I'm going to chat here with Bo a little bit longer.

00:42:18:13 - 00:42:19:09

Brandon Krisztal

But enjoy.

00:42:19:15 - 00:42:21:08

Chris Harris Jr.

Can all right. You know.

00:42:21:08 - 00:42:21:25

Bo Scaife

First you take.

00:42:21:26 - 00:42:42:06

Brandon Krisztal

Care about the one and only strap Harris Chris Harris jr. Szabo. Good to see you. It's a big day for you. We can do some football stuff here in a minute, but might as well, since I got you. You got your All Pro Farms hoodie on the hat. Good branding. All Pro Farms is a company that you started shoot almost a decade ago.

00:42:42:06 - 00:42:43:15

Brandon Krisztal

How long? How long has it been going to be?

00:42:43:15 - 00:42:46:03

Bo Scaife

2000? 20.

00:42:46:03 - 00:43:04:15

Brandon Krisztal

Like 20. Okay. So half a decade ago. Just feels like it's been a long time. And you were making various products. Marijuana based solely or exclusively, but explain what all Pro Farms was and what it now is expanding.

00:43:04:18 - 00:43:26:20

Bo Scaife

Well, we were, flower brand early on. So, you know, in 2018, about 140 acres in southern Colorado to, you know, grow cannabis. I like to use cannabis. You know, we are mostly flower, which is obviously the plant. And today is day one of our new store opening. So it's called on Pro Cannabis. 1233 West Alameda.

00:43:26:22 - 00:43:47:03

Bo Scaife

Make sure you guys stop by today and tomorrow. All weekend is all pro weekend, but exciting venture. You know, a lot of guys struggle with their transition. I think this has been great for me. It's gave me direction, gave me purpose. Obviously, I love the plant for its, you know, medicinal benefits. It's helped me. And, you know, millions of other people just across the world, with ailments, you know, mentally and physically.

00:43:47:03 - 00:43:51:03

Bo Scaife

So, you know, just very, very thankful for the opportunity and always glad to see you be here.

00:43:51:06 - 00:44:08:25

Brandon Krisztal

It's great to see you. You know, we've known each other in passing. Like I said, I had friends that were at Texas. Whether it was my punter from high school, Ryan Long, Anthony Hicks, who received you. But I think y'all crossover a little bit. You know, I knew Chris Simms met him in Dallas and kind of, I mean met him in New York but used some of those Dallas connections.

00:44:08:25 - 00:44:25:01

Brandon Krisztal

And my whole family went there. But then, you know, you're you're Denver through and through as one of the, you know, I don't want to break down the Mount Rushmore of, of Colorado football players, but you're going to be high up there. You know, Christian's up there, obviously, with what he was able to do in high school, in his pro career to become.

00:44:25:04 - 00:44:36:26

Brandon Krisztal

But I met and of course Dave Logan, who it's funny because you're probably the most famous Mullen alum. People just associate Dave because they won so many games. Yes, coach. You know, he you got there right after you left.

00:44:36:28 - 00:44:37:29

Chris Harris Jr.

Well.

00:44:38:02 - 00:44:57:01

Bo Scaife

You know, me and Dave definitely have history. So I played against Dave a few times where in high school, you know, we won most of them, so. But it's awesome to about to see every his career, how he's evolved, how he goes from school to school to school and just dominates and wins. So I was happy and fortunate to be able to get a couple wins off him when he was coaching.

00:44:57:06 - 00:45:01:03

Brandon Krisztal

Not too many losses. Not many people can say that in 30 years of him coaching now, whatever it is.

00:45:01:03 - 00:45:11:17

Bo Scaife

So there was, online debate with a lot of the Mullen kids who had the best Mullen team. So obviously Dave Logan's team. Sure. That's what the state championship.

00:45:11:17 - 00:45:12:07

Brandon Krisztal

Yes.

00:45:12:09 - 00:45:14:19

Bo Scaife

So, so but they won three.

00:45:14:21 - 00:45:15:13

Brandon Krisztal

Okay.

00:45:15:16 - 00:45:33:22

Bo Scaife

But if you ask Dave he'll tell a he'll tell he till he tells us that those Mullen teams could not be my only team there. Yeah. We're just more physical different brand of football back then you know. And I don't know who's going to take me. You know, we had a big guy. We had about 8 or 9 guys go D1.

00:45:33:25 - 00:45:42:15

Bo Scaife

No knock on those guys. But, you know, different brand of football. You know, we see that brand of football now. It's it's a different game than it was, you know, ten years ago a lot more physicality back then.

00:45:42:17 - 00:46:01:21

Brandon Krisztal

But let me ask you because, you know, you Lindale White and football's different than basketball I remember hearing about how Chauncey Billups had to go play in California with a youth team, because there just weren't enough good Colorado players. And let the McCaffrey's, of course, get a good name because they obviously put four kids in D1 and Christian.

00:46:01:27 - 00:46:21:16

Brandon Krisztal

And now Luke, you know, prior to his injury, having a nice start to his career, Christian a Hall of Fame caliber type career. But you know, you play college football in Texas. I grew up in Texas. We understand what Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, what they are. But I'm curious seeing where basketball has gotten I think Jazz's elite academy in some elite programs had something to do with that.

00:46:21:18 - 00:46:44:21

Brandon Krisztal

But to see where Colorado football is at a high school level, I imagine that probably fills you with pride because, like you said, nine guys went and played D1. But how many NFL players are there from Colorado? You can kind of still name them. Yeah, now, but that number feels like it's getting higher and the kids are going like, you want to see it, see you and see as you think selfishly with that regional pride for a lot of folks.

00:46:44:21 - 00:46:50:24

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. But just to see where it is in, in 2025 compared to when you were graduating around the turn of the century.

00:46:50:26 - 00:47:05:00

Bo Scaife

Yeah. And you know, obviously social media has a lot to do with that. Just being able to get that exposure now. I mean, we come from the era of magazines, right? You had to find your name in the magazine and look up your opponents and the guys who were your rivals, who lived on the other side of the country.

00:47:05:00 - 00:47:12:22

Bo Scaife

We didn't get to see their film like they get to do now. Like, I can only imagine sharing my highlights like real time.

00:47:12:22 - 00:47:13:09

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah.

00:47:13:12 - 00:47:32:16

Bo Scaife

And being able to see the other guys who I was up against and cornball means know the Jason witness of the world. Like just being able to what they see, what they were doing every Friday night. So I think that had a lot to do with it. But just overall, Colorado is definitely on the rise. You know guys like myself Landale huge.

00:47:32:16 - 00:47:44:07

Bo Scaife

Doesn't get enough credit I mean we're talking about Hall of Fame running back Collins Hall of Fame running back. Yeah more touchdowns and OJ. Marcus Allen Charles why I don't think Glendale gets the credit.

00:47:44:10 - 00:47:45:24

Brandon Krisztal

Any had to share with Reggie Bush.

00:47:45:26 - 00:47:47:12

Bo Scaife

That's the that's the.

00:47:47:12 - 00:47:51:13

Brandon Krisztal

Kicker that helped their team that obviously helped their team. Right SC was didn't.

00:47:51:13 - 00:47:55:29

Bo Scaife

Even play for years. Ran right. He led his all time leading to.

00:47:56:02 - 00:47:57:00

Brandon Krisztal

At that place at that.

00:47:57:00 - 00:48:15:12

Bo Scaife

Place splitting time. So you know that's a monumental Colorado guy. Then obviously Christian comes. He does his thing. Still doing his thing. I mean, much love to the Christian. I'm so proud to, watch him and just see him and know he's from here, even though he went to Baylor. You know, most of some, though.

00:48:15:13 - 00:48:19:06

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. Valley is just a an evolved version of Mullen.

00:48:19:06 - 00:48:20:26

Bo Scaife

This in another some ways.

00:48:20:29 - 00:48:21:18

Brandon Krisztal

I'm sure.

00:48:21:18 - 00:48:25:15

Bo Scaife

Times ten. Okay. The guy we're forgetting about Calais Campbell.

00:48:25:23 - 00:48:27:11

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. Oh, he's still doing it.

00:48:27:11 - 00:48:31:24

Bo Scaife

He might be the go between him and Christian. Those two got to be the go.

00:48:31:26 - 00:48:39:27

Brandon Krisztal

This is Walter Payton, man of the year. Year 18 here 18. And he's. We can look it up, but he's got to have 7 or 8 Pro Bowls at least.

00:48:40:02 - 00:48:41:29

Bo Scaife

And he's on. He's balling again.

00:48:42:00 - 00:48:57:08

Brandon Krisztal

I know like he did he say this is his last year because the way he's playing man and I don't know what's going to happen there. But there's a scenario where if they were to move on from these are all hypothetical. Let's say they move on from Jonathan Gannon and let's say they brought Vance Joseph back.

00:48:57:08 - 00:48:59:25

Brandon Krisztal

And I'm curious. I want to play one more year in Vance Joseph's defense.

00:49:00:02 - 00:49:17:12

Bo Scaife

You know, when it's over, it's over. So you just want to stretch it out as long as you can. You know, he doesn't have to practice anymore. Doesn't have to take all the reps the the pounding. We just really just need them on game days. And obviously you want a guy like that in your locker room. I think that's probably one of the things that the NFL is missing is that veteran leadership.

00:49:17:12 - 00:49:28:22

Bo Scaife

Now, you know, it's easy to bring the young guys in for economic reasons. But leadership, you gotta have the the veteran presence, aligned throughout your locker room.

00:49:28:24 - 00:49:47:00

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah I mean David's putting his numbers up on the on the screen there. And it's just remarkable the consistency. He had missed a lot of games. Just because you look, I know how good your eyes are. Mine. Mine are okay. As I'm as I'm getting closer to 50 than like. But the number on the left. His number of games played 270.

00:49:47:03 - 00:50:00:07

Brandon Krisztal

Well, yeah, but they're all double digits. There's no eight in there. There's no seven game season. There's no he played, you know, in the teens every year, 271 games, is what I think I'm gonna start 2071.

00:50:00:07 - 00:50:07:03

Bo Scaife

Starts London Fletcher type career. Yeah. You know, but I'll tell you as a D lineman in the trenches.

00:50:07:03 - 00:50:24:17

Brandon Krisztal

Well and so that's what I. And I hadn't thought about this. All right now but Mercedes Lewis he came in a year after you. Yeah I think in oh six. And I forget like he and MJD were rookies together. Played at UCLA together. Went to Jacksonville. You saw him enough. Obviously in your same division. But how about he's in year 20 now.

00:50:24:17 - 00:50:47:15

Brandon Krisztal

Still doing doing his thing I understand he's obviously on the practice squad but that's that's actually something I wonder if that would have extended your career because the NFL, they kind of got in their own way with how they handle practice squads. At first it was like a secret, the secret taxi squad back in like the 70s. Then it was like five guys, six guys, eight Covid hits and we John Sean Payton for all of his, you know, thoughts and whatever.

00:50:47:15 - 00:51:06:12

Brandon Krisztal

I think he's 100% right because I said the same thing. One of the benefits from Covid was the flexibility with the roster and expanding practice squads to 16. And it doesn't matter how many years you played like Mercedes Lewis, because it used to be. And people may not know this three years or less. So if you got past vested veteran in three years, six games, you could not be on a practice squad.

00:51:06:14 - 00:51:11:17

Brandon Krisztal

And now, I mean, do you think about that, that if your body would have let you, that you could have?

00:51:11:20 - 00:51:37:15

Bo Scaife

Of course, it's a strategic tool and that's the way the coaches use it. You know, you can move guys around, move pieces around, and you know, anytime they can shuffle the deck, that's going to help that, you know, that roster on game day. Like why would they not do that. So you know, I think the coaches are always fighting for ways and things like that to just help them on game day, because unless we really are such a violent sport, you know, you're going to lose guys throughout the season.

00:51:37:15 - 00:51:48:12

Bo Scaife

I mean, look at San Francisco, look at a lot of other teams right now. They're decimated and they're trying to find guys and, you know, fulfill spots in their roster just to, you know, make it to the postseason.

00:51:48:14 - 00:52:07:25

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. Well and that's a good place to go next because we do this every week. Normally Crystal participate and we're talking Broncos. But with it being a bye week well we'll touch on the Broncos. But let's head to our Belen Polic injury report real quick.

00:52:07:27 - 00:52:27:25

Brandon Krisztal

So we know Jake Dobbins went to E.R. Sean did not want to talk about it despite Chris Thomasson trying to ask postgame. Hey, can you give us an update on Jake? There's I guess, no reason to say he's done for the year. They don't use all of their eight, you know, designations to return, but that's kind of the most serious one because the Broncos are getting healthier with Alex Singleton.

00:52:27:25 - 00:52:45:21

Brandon Krisztal

Despite a testicular cancer diagnosis and surgery. Peck is apparently doing doing well, and he's likely going to play John Ellis with the hamstring. And we know Ben Powers at some point are going to come back. But so the Broncos are pretty healthy nonetheless. You saw Jake Adams go down on a hip drop tackle. He was complaining about it.

00:52:45:21 - 00:52:47:05

Brandon Krisztal

How much of a loss you think that is for Denver?

00:52:47:05 - 00:53:06:15

Bo Scaife

It's a huge loss. I mean it seems like he was the consistent energy just throughout the year for them. You know them. That run game seems like it's kind of the foundation of the offense. And that's what kind of helps Beau get along until he does get heated up in that fourth quarter starts, you know, taking the game over a little bit.

00:53:06:15 - 00:53:21:03

Bo Scaife

But you know, any time that you got a running back that's going to get 4 or 5, six yards a carry, you know obviously you're able to move the chains. And that sets up a whole lot of stuff to play action. Some of the deep shots and you know getting the ball to the other playmakers. So I mean that's a huge loss.

00:53:21:03 - 00:53:22:12

Bo Scaife

But that's why they drafted the rookie.

00:53:22:18 - 00:53:36:28

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. And they gave him more work. And other than the the throw that was almost picked which I didn't hate the throws as I said in in the in the film room there's more just the decision to let it go. But it was a good let me get through 43 touchdowns in high school. That's not an accident.

00:53:36:28 - 00:53:53:02

Brandon Krisztal

He wasn't an option quarterback. That's a kid that was slinging it, who I'm sure was pretty tough to stop there in the Orlando area. And and I'm not trying to pick on you, but it's pretty well documented that your knee injuries at Texas elongated your college career. And in this day and age, that just meant it just means more money.

00:53:53:08 - 00:53:54:08

Brandon Krisztal

You wouldn't care. I will.

00:53:54:14 - 00:53:57:19

Bo Scaife

I will take, I would love it.

00:53:57:21 - 00:54:06:12

Brandon Krisztal

But knee injuries. And so as we look around the league thinking of Michael Penix, let me thank you. Because you did you hurt your knee in the pros, too?

00:54:06:14 - 00:54:09:28

Bo Scaife

No. Okay. Like a nothing that was had it man surgery.

00:54:09:28 - 00:54:41:02

Brandon Krisztal

Okay. But so but still nonetheless somebody who was following the Longhorns as closely as I was, especially in that time. Yeah. To for you to go down not once but twice. I know three times. Shit. That had to be pretty devastating. Similarly, you look at what's going on in Atlanta with Michael Penix and I think it's it's not a full tear anywhere, but they just want to do a reconstruction for a kid that I think 4 or 5 times had to end the season because of knee injuries or injuries, but I think several were knee injuries in Indiana, and he was healthier at Washington.

00:54:41:04 - 00:54:46:05

Brandon Krisztal

I know that position is different than tight end, but what do you think he's dealing with in terms of getting back out there and trying to be himself?

00:54:46:06 - 00:55:02:13

Bo Scaife

The biggest hurdle, obviously, is going to be mental. You know, we got the technology and all the tools and the resources now physically to get them back. You know, how much of a setback is this going to be to him mentally? You know, he was starting to play good. He was having some good games on. He was building and camaraderie.

00:55:02:13 - 00:55:19:09

Bo Scaife

I think he was gaining a ton of respect from his teammates as a leader and as the quarterback of that franchise. So this is just a setback for sure. So hopefully, you know, I think they're playing probably used to get it done now. So he can be great and feel good. At the beginning of next year.

00:55:19:12 - 00:55:32:19

Bo Scaife

Which, you know, that's why you have that backup who you're paying all that money to. And, you know, he wants to make a name for himself some more to, you know, I don't think his career is over at all either. So, that was a great security blanket right there for them.

00:55:32:22 - 00:55:47:21

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. I don't think I was initially the way they planned, but. But it's working out. I don't know if they can look what the bucks coming back to the pack. And obviously the Panthers are there and beat him last week. But there's a scenario where if the Falcons can get hot with Kirk Cousins they could end up in the mix.

00:55:47:21 - 00:55:51:18

Brandon Krisztal

You know Drake London I think is gonna be out this week I think it's a knee that's kind of been nagging him.

00:55:51:19 - 00:55:52:25

Bo Scaife

You talk about a guy having a great year.

00:55:53:00 - 00:55:55:24

Brandon Krisztal

When he's on the field. Yeah I got him on some fantasy teams.

00:55:55:24 - 00:55:57:27

Bo Scaife

This guy is dominating.

00:55:57:29 - 00:56:17:28

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. But it's going to change their offense. Like taking Penix for cousins. Doesn't change your offense as significantly as crazy. That sounds as taking your biggest threat in the passing game. And John's obviously their biggest weapon. Some other big injuries around the league. You look at Daniel Jones dealing with a calf, there's no way he's not playing against the Chiefs, but something to keep an eye on.

00:56:18:01 - 00:56:26:00

Brandon Krisztal

And then Aaron Rodgers with a broken bone in his wrist. Looks like he's going to play. Yeah. Hat trick. You think that is for, for a quarterback?

00:56:26:07 - 00:56:47:19

Bo Scaife

Someone of his age is pretty fragile. So, I mean, we, you know, any little bump or hit can put him right back on the bench. We don't know. The severity of it is a break. But, you know, I look at it, we were talking about it the other day on my group said, you know, Donovan played with a broken ankle, big being played with you know he's he's got to play with severe injuries.

00:56:47:19 - 00:56:47:22

Bo Scaife

Yeah.

00:56:47:22 - 00:56:48:19

Brandon Krisztal

Like his shoulder was just.

00:56:48:19 - 00:57:02:23

Bo Scaife

Here and like so you know these guys are warriors. And you know we expect them to be out there and you know make plays. And you know obviously might be over expectation. But you know that's why these guys are getting paid the big bucks.

00:57:02:23 - 00:57:19:11

Brandon Krisztal

I had to lean forward Jaxson Dart still in concussion protocol because this is where I want to get to. So he's in the concussion protocol C.J. Stroud turns out they didn't need him last night in Houston. We know concussion is every single one of them is different. I remember having lots of conversation with Wes Welker about it.

00:57:19:14 - 00:57:37:15

Brandon Krisztal

But with Jackson Dart in general, let's say he clears protocol next week or so. They've only got a couple wins. Two, three wins. If you're the Giants and you know you're making a change, you want to give Mike Kafka his best chance, I think to try to, because when you have a quarterback, you want to pick high, but you don't care if you're picking fourth or seventh compared to.

00:57:37:17 - 00:57:47:25

Brandon Krisztal

So they think they have the guy. Would you play him? If he's clear, let's say he's cleared next week. Would you play him in these final 5 or 6 games to get him the the game reps, or would you protect him.

00:57:47:25 - 00:58:04:25

Bo Scaife

Has to have the reps. Has to I mean this is how you prevent the sophomore slump because everyone knows that second year is that tough as year for a lot of the quarterbacks. So you know the more reps he can get. Obviously he was getting momentum too. So you know you know you're going to have these setbacks in the league you know at some point in the season.

00:58:04:25 - 00:58:21:18

Bo Scaife

So you know working like him. He still Jaylen still building that camaraderie. They're not a winning football team yet. So let's build that culture and get that culture solidified going into next year. So as much momentum that you can finish the year with, I think just from a coaching perspective, that's the way to go.

00:58:21:23 - 00:58:45:02

Brandon Krisztal

Well, so then that is the same theme. But a guy that doesn't need the reps, I think he just wants to play and you're paying him a boatload of money. Joe Burrow again, that division is, on paper still attainable because they play the Ravens I think twice they play the Steelers again. If you're the Bengals and Joe Burrow who he was a full go Wednesday under Joe Flacco was limited.

00:58:45:04 - 00:59:00:17

Brandon Krisztal

And Flacco I think I saw somewhere said he wants to play quarterback. The rest of course he does I get it. But if you're Joe Burrow or if you're the Bengals and I don't think he's gonna end up playing against the Patriots this week. But then they play the Ravens on Thursday then night game on Thanksgiving. Do you roll Joe Burrow out there.

00:59:00:17 - 00:59:01:09

Brandon Krisztal

If you're Zach Taylor.

00:59:01:16 - 00:59:20:20

Bo Scaife

If he's feeling really really good and he's good to go. Yeah I mean you're paying these guys so much money to sit on the bench. And obviously Flacco's an amazing story. It's awesome what he's doing. But this is your franchise quarterback. And the longer you sit, the harder it is to come back. You know, you got to get that timing, that camaraderie, that that playmaking ability.

00:59:20:20 - 00:59:37:17

Bo Scaife

You got to reestablish that when you take those long periods of time live, off. And, you know, this is in his first season where he's had to do this. So, you know, he hasn't had the reps even though he's made some amazing plays and won a lot of games for them already, he still needs to find that rhythm for himself again as well.

00:59:37:19 - 00:59:51:22

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah, I'm with you. And I just selfishly, I, I like seeing Joe Burrow play here on my favorite course. I mean, he's a guy that when you ask people around the league, that conversation has changed a little. Although with what Josh Allen wasn't able to do in the clutch last night, I'm not picking on me. He's reigning MVP.

00:59:51:24 - 01:00:10:23

Brandon Krisztal

But when you ask people around the league personnel, people, coaches, Patrick is the first quarterback they'll take over the last few years. Plenty of, said Joe Burrow, second ahead of Lamar, ahead of Josh Allen ahead anybody else. And I mean, you saw it last year with when he was healthy and on the field. He was he wasn't the reason he didn't win MVP right.

01:00:10:25 - 01:00:31:14

Bo Scaife

He it's a it's a potential thing. They see the ceiling for Joe and they know he hasn't gotten there. But you have to factor in the the setbacks the injuries and that type of stuff. You know that's why you have to take some of those other guys. And the Patrick Mahomes the Lamar's the Josh Allen's like those guys are going to be available pretty much you know every Sunday.

01:00:31:14 - 01:00:43:28

Bo Scaife

You know we're not we're not seeing a lot of that with Lamar. You know recently. But this is the first year really. He's, you know, missed a few games, stuff like that. So I mean, that's why you had to take those guys ahead because, you know, they're going to be on the field even though Jalen Hurts.

01:00:44:00 - 01:01:10:19

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. And so you mentioned Jalen Hurts. We're going to get into our prediction segment here in just a second. But that is the super sized version of our Belen Polic injury report. Nobody wants to have an injury. Nobody wants to have to deal with an accident out of the blue. But if you do, then you want somebody is going to help you devise a game plan, have success if you need to go to court or need to settle out of court or whatever it may be, there's nobody I trust more than my friends of Allen Pollock, the champions of the people, for a reason.

01:01:10:19 - 01:01:26:29

Brandon Krisztal

Give him a call today. 303795 5900. Or very simply, champions of the people.com. That was your latest Leaguewide edition of the Belen Pollock Injury Report.

01:01:27:01 - 01:01:39:17

Brandon Krisztal

All right. Before we get into predictions, I guess I'm curious. I want to get your thoughts here just on the Broncos who aren't playing this week. But you live here. I don't know what level of fan ship you're because you're the Titan through and through.

01:01:39:17 - 01:01:49:13

Bo Scaife

Yeah, but I mean, I grew up here. I'm a bro. I mean, this is Broncos country. I mean, you grew up, you grew up in Mannheim. I mean, I grew up with the Shanahan's. Yeah. Why would I not be rude? I mean, Elway gave me player of the year.

01:01:49:14 - 01:02:06:16

Brandon Krisztal

Are you excited to see a documentary comes out this week? I don't know if you got the clips with. He was in here talking using that seat. But talking to Woody Page and and Tom green and runs poll. I got to see the documentary and I have to think of. You're from here and you like Elway or your name, but it's going to make you like a more.

01:02:06:16 - 01:02:15:13

Brandon Krisztal

If you didn't like him, it's going to it's going to maybe make you like him a little bit. But are you excited the documentary comes out this weekend on Netflix to just see his story laid out like that.

01:02:15:13 - 01:02:33:17

Bo Scaife

Very much so. It's because it's going to remind all of us of the time, you know, that we all were growing up here in Denver, Colorado, and, you know, Denver was an, he put that on the map. He put them on the map. I mean, when the Broncos are wearing those old throwback uniforms that they've been wearing recently, like, that's all you think about?

01:02:33:19 - 01:02:47:04

Bo Scaife

You know, I always been a big fan of his. And, you know, I always lived up to him, like I said, you know, personal relationship since I was, you know, 16, 17 years old. So, just happy for him and his family. And just good to see him out in the city and, you know, smiling.

01:02:47:10 - 01:03:04:16

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. And the one one of the things he said, he obviously was here for an hour, but and this is what watching that, documentary will remind you of his those struggles early. And you'll get to see them because you see him make the mistakes. The documentary does a really good job of taking us through his life.

01:03:04:18 - 01:03:20:07

Brandon Krisztal

Up until the first Super Bowl is kind of the bulk of the movie. They kind of speed through, second Super Bowl and all that. But he said to Bo Nix, basically tune out the noise. And Bo told us last week, he's like, I don't I don't have my social media on during the year. Then there was an Instagram post with like ten pictures.

01:03:20:07 - 01:03:27:05

Brandon Krisztal

So I don't know if it was like somebody paused. But I get it video in comments and you've, I'm sure had plenty of teammates are like that, especially quarterbacks at all.

01:03:27:05 - 01:03:42:08

Bo Scaife

I think they all say that might be. But like they're seeing if someone's feeding them. But you have to say that that's the training of your brain and your mind that you have to do to block out the noise, because you know you're the leader of the stuff. You can't be affected by anything outside.

01:03:42:10 - 01:03:48:20

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah, but I took you down that path and then cut you off. What do you think of this Broncos team at nine and two?

01:03:48:22 - 01:04:12:17

Bo Scaife

I'm surprised. I think everybody's surprised. But at the same time I'm excited for them because, you know, guys like myself who actually played in the league, it's about somebody. You know how hard it is to get to a nine and two. You know, and they're showing those gutsy winds, those winds that come in the end of the game where they have to make a few plays here and there, like so they're scratching and calling for those wins.

01:04:12:17 - 01:04:31:01

Bo Scaife

It might not say that in the scorecard or the record, but as a as a team, you know, that you fought and claw for those win and you're beating some good teams. So I mean you got to be right high, you know, that you can handle adversity. You know that your character has been built in these tough moments and these, you know, the adversity that you've experienced.

01:04:31:07 - 01:04:50:00

Bo Scaife

So I think this is a close knit group. I, I respect Sean Payton because he definitely has came in, changed the culture. He definitely has came to that. So we got to give him this props on that. Obviously people were, you know, calling for him to give up the play calling duties. But as a head coach, his job is to make sure the team is intact and to have a winning culture.

01:04:50:00 - 01:04:52:01

Bo Scaife

And that is something that he has succeeded in.

01:04:52:04 - 01:05:12:15

Brandon Krisztal

Well. And then because of bringing in Vance Joseph and letting Vance do his thing with the personnel, that Sean certainly has helped, you know, helped shape this roster with George Payton. And as Vance likes to say, these are all self-made guys other than to not that he's not self-made, but that's a top ten pick and he's played like it.

01:05:12:18 - 01:05:29:08

Brandon Krisztal

Every one of these guys is a second round pick. On to an undrafted guy, dependent, you know, on where they where they fall. What do you think when you see this defense that I understand they haven't played the toughest schedule, but they did go to Philly and beat the Eagles. They did just get Patrick Mahomes the business.

01:05:29:11 - 01:05:33:18

Brandon Krisztal

What have you seen from from that defense. Because it looks like a championship level defense to me.

01:05:33:23 - 01:05:52:07

Bo Scaife

You know that's you said it perfectly. It's championship level. They're playing lights out. And as an offense who's has had a defense like that I mean that's your greatest and best friend. To be able to know that your defense is probably not going to give up more than a couple touchdowns. And, you know, they're going to always get the ball fake to you.

01:05:52:07 - 01:06:10:27

Bo Scaife

Like that's relieving to know. So, you know, you root for those guys on the other side. But like you said they're playing lights out. Obviously Vance you know you can tell they're playing for their coach and they love the scheme and they're comfortable in the scheme that they're playing. He's simplified it and they fly around. You know they're hitting people to get into the quarterback.

01:06:10:27 - 01:06:17:08

Bo Scaife

Like those are all the things that you're asked as a defensive player to do, and they're doing all the checking off all the boxes.

01:06:17:14 - 01:06:27:04

Brandon Krisztal

You played with. Obviously, a handful of different quarterbacks in your career Major Applewhite and Chris Simms at Texas, and then Vince Young, among others in the pros. Did you miss? McNair was already gone, but.

01:06:27:04 - 01:06:27:19

Bo Scaife

He's my rookie.

01:06:27:19 - 01:06:42:27

Brandon Krisztal

Year. Okay, so you're rookie. So Steve McNair, a borderline Hall of Fame type player, a guy that took his team to the Super Bowl. We talked about Elway. We know what he is. We certainly know you get to see Peyton Manning up close plenty. And then, and then here, and you're such good friends with Kyle Shanahan.

01:06:42:27 - 01:07:01:23

Brandon Krisztal

We're going to the Niners in our pick segment. So you know what quarterback supposed to look like. Where do you come down on Bo Nix who in year two has almost identical, if not better numbers than he had a year ago, but because they aren't light in the world on fire, you know, people are critical and obviously their first first half struggles at times.

01:07:01:25 - 01:07:20:14

Bo Scaife

He has as a quarterback, you're always going to get picked it. So obviously he has some things, you know that they're going to pick. And his footwork. He's you know maybe leading the pack a little too early. Then he has a list of things that they're going to pick at. But at the end of the day when it's not crunch time, he makes the throws that he needs to make and he gets the ball to the right.

01:07:20:14 - 01:07:42:21

Bo Scaife

Guys. I don't know what's going on in the first couple quarters with him, but he's growing through it and that's all you can ask. He's not losing the game. Then we would really have a problem. We would really have a problem if they were. This record was reversed. Yeah. So he's finding a way to, you know, make those plays at the end and that's what you want your quarterback to do.

01:07:42:21 - 01:07:55:29

Bo Scaife

That's why he was drafted. Where he hit, where he was drafted. That that's why Sean has all the, you know, confidence in the world with him. And I think that's why the Bronco Nation and Bronco Country should be excited about them. Like we know like it's going to be both time at a certain time in the fourth quarter.

01:07:55:29 - 01:07:59:28

Bo Scaife

And he's going to make some plays. So he's building that resilience right now.

01:08:00:01 - 01:08:14:21

Brandon Krisztal

All right. Well so let's let's jump to our pick segment because we can kind of talk about the league as we go through. You know, we just circle kind of the the bigger games on the slate. Although one isn't the biggest game we're making it such because of who's starting at quarterback is a little a little hint.

01:08:14:21 - 01:08:35:26

Brandon Krisztal

So let's start with early window. You heard Chris Harrison's thoughts on this. And this is worth pointing out. And I actually have it up here. I pulled up their schedule Broncos in order to get that path to the number one seed. Need the Colts. They're ahead of the Patriots to the tiebreakers, but they need the Colts to drop one because the Colts and Broncos finished 15 and two.

01:08:35:29 - 01:08:51:16

Brandon Krisztal

So a lot of people here I've heard it on the radio this week are saying, oh, you want the Chiefs to win but then lose some other games. Well the Chiefs schedule isn't that hard. They still see the Raiders again. They are going to see the Broncos. I think they see the Chargers one more time. But the Colts went from having the fourth easiest schedule all year.

01:08:51:19 - 01:09:19:14

Brandon Krisztal

This is their schedule now the rest of the year at Kansas City this week, then hosting the Texans. And so the Texans were last night off okay at Jacksonville who is certainly a playoff caliber team at Seattle hosting the Niners hosting the Jags at the Texans. So in their final seven games they have the toughest schedule. So I'm over here saying let the Colts go in and beat the Chiefs this week.

01:09:19:16 - 01:09:36:14

Brandon Krisztal

And cut one of the Chiefs legs off officially at five and six. They're going to and they don't. They won't have a tiebreaker against the Colts. Won't have the tiebreaker against the Jaguars and the. So I don't know if they're going to I probably am going to pick the Chiefs to win. But I think the Colts if you're Broncos fan you want the Colts to win.

01:09:36:19 - 01:09:37:20

Brandon Krisztal

How do you see the game playing out though?

01:09:37:24 - 01:09:40:07

Bo Scaife

I don't I don't think the Colts are going to win this game.

01:09:40:08 - 01:09:42:20

Brandon Krisztal

The three and a half point underdogs. Chiefs are three and five favorites.

01:09:42:20 - 01:10:02:02

Bo Scaife

You know and they let that one in their mind. They let they let the last game slip away from them. So I mean you know we thought that that was a must win game for them this past week against the Broncos. This is definitely a must win if they have any life in the postseason. I think the Colts, you know, peaked a little too early.

01:10:02:04 - 01:10:20:05

Bo Scaife

And that is a such thing in the NFL. You know, you want to play your best football in December. And I think that's going to, you know, hurt them. You know they they showed what they're capable of. But like, you know, their schedule. Those other guys, they're starting to peak now and everyone's starting to play better now and play their best football now.

01:10:20:05 - 01:10:29:12

Bo Scaife

So all those guys in those schedule, those are going to be tough games for them to win. And I just don't see them being able to play that kind of winning football in December. But those other teams, that's what they're built for.

01:10:29:13 - 01:10:37:16

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah Allen also playing it out. Like how did that game in Indy. This is not going to India when Peyton Manning there in the dome. Like you had to deal with at all. Your your whole career.

01:10:37:16 - 01:10:39:23

Bo Scaife

You know they're not going to score 40 because Peyton was there.

01:10:39:25 - 01:10:56:12

Brandon Krisztal

Not in the Broncos. When you look at that game, the defense wanted to have Dre Greenlaw. But when they dialed in, you had those passes to the back. It was the first time seeing Tyler Warren. It was week two. The offense still managed to score to score four touchdowns, and they were they weren't great on early downs, but they or maybe that was a game where they were the best on early downs.

01:10:56:12 - 01:11:07:16

Brandon Krisztal

Either way, that was a game where you like the defense doesn't get after you the way the Broncos defense. So if it played out where both teams are 15 and two and you have to go to Indy, I don't think you're scared of. I don't think.

01:11:07:16 - 01:11:21:07

Bo Scaife

Anyone's scared of the Colts. No, I don't I you know, everyone respects them, but no one's scared of them. And you know they've they've found ways to win day in the game as well. So you know they've got their resiliency too. But I don't think anyone is afraid to go to Indy and play them.

01:11:21:13 - 01:11:47:21

Brandon Krisztal

All right. So then two afternoon games we're on the same page that the Chiefs win that game. The the one that has, I think more interest around here than maybe nationwide. It's because Eagles Cowboys will be on. But sure Sanders getting his first start with our pal Shelby Harris and that Browns defense. There was a scenario with the Broncos off where I was trying to get to Vegas to watch the F1 race because I got to go last year's day before the Broncos Raiders, then go to that game and watch, watch, just watch a game and cheer for Shelby.

01:11:47:23 - 01:12:08:16

Brandon Krisztal

And then my Jayhawks are whooping there on Monday and Tuesday, but instead I'm going to be in town, which will be cool and will be up actually in Boulder, where we should do. Our Sanders number is retired. Vance Joseph will be there as part of our Big Island, pre-game tailgate up at the Marriott there. But this is a game where the Raiders are four point favorites.

01:12:08:18 - 01:12:24:15

Brandon Krisztal

I haven't seen anything that's inspired me with the Raiders. They played tough against their rival in the Broncos. Cowboys blew their doors off the other night and now you get shit. Are getting only a week of practice with the ones and a top ten top five defense at times with the Defensive player of the year, I think it's Myles Garrett.

01:12:24:18 - 01:12:32:09

Brandon Krisztal

How do you see it playing out there with the Browns? Will there be a shitload of Browns fans are too, because we know that the Raiders don't really have home fans yet.

01:12:32:13 - 01:12:51:24

Bo Scaife

This is the perfect game for sure. This is the perfect opponent. And with that defense he's going to Vegas with, I have almost a door. I have the utmost confidence on playing in the dome. You know the game is going to be fast. This is his life's perfect environment for him, so I'm excited to see him play. I think the whole country, the whole NFL is excited.

01:12:51:24 - 01:13:00:17

Bo Scaife

Even the players, they want to see what he can do and I'm glad he's finally gotten this opportunity. The Raiders passed on him. So this is something a little personal to him. Yes.

01:13:00:17 - 01:13:01:28

Brandon Krisztal

Now Tom Brady because I think I'm.

01:13:01:28 - 01:13:09:16

Bo Scaife

Sure he wants to go in there and light it up in front of Brady in front of the Raiders. So yeah, exciting time frame it.

01:13:09:18 - 01:13:31:08

Brandon Krisztal

Let me ask you, because Dion has said I, I asked him if he was going to go to the game. Tuesday, his press conference. Mark Johnson on his coach's show also asked him. He said, do you want to be a distraction? But if your son's making his first NFL start, like there's a scenario where Dion doesn't have to show up and be on the field pre-game, you can be in a suite and then get wins a game come down and you're still not a distraction at that point.

01:13:31:15 - 01:13:41:26

Brandon Krisztal

He's the winning quarterback, and if he loses, you meet him in the locker room on the side or whatever. But when you think of Dion, when it's all said and done, probably he gets on a plane, a quick flight to Vegas.

01:13:42:01 - 01:13:56:00

Bo Scaife

Yeah, I think me I know what to say. You know, he doesn't want to be he doesn't want to be a distraction. He wants a son to lock in. You know. He knows, you know, when they lose, they're going to talk about him, good or bad. So, he wants to be able to enjoy the moment with his son.

01:13:56:03 - 01:14:10:19

Bo Scaife

You know, you can tell they obviously have an amazing relationship, you know, with. That's definitely father and son bonds right there. So, I hope he goes there and supports him. You know, I think solder feeds off his, their being around. So I think they'll only help him.

01:14:10:24 - 01:14:23:08

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah, I think I'm there with you. And maybe it's one of things where he don't have to announce that he's going out to, you know, there's people behind the scenes that can take care of getting them in. And then it can it can be a great father son moment. Like we we look for the Disney story, the hallmark story.

01:14:23:08 - 01:14:36:22

Brandon Krisztal

But but if they win the game and look at if we get him to three and eight, but if he plays well, the one thing I'm worried about we should do is that he throws a couple of picks. It ends up being the reason they lose him if he plays well enough that, you know, we know NFL is different nonetheless.

01:14:36:25 - 01:14:42:29

Brandon Krisztal

Do you see I like the Browns. The one with that defense and the Raiders uninspired. Do you do you think the Browns win.

01:14:43:01 - 01:15:01:07

Bo Scaife

Oh I do think they ran you know and let's say he throws for 350 and a couple picks. But they win the game I mean listen that's life of a rookie quarterback. You know I would do the same exact thing. So you know it's hard to play quarterback in the league. It's you got to have reps. And this is the experience that all the other young quarterbacks are getting.

01:15:01:07 - 01:15:13:25

Bo Scaife

Bo Nix got it. All the other young rookie quarterbacks are getting it. They got to get on the field and play. They got to get a lot of reps and they got to play with the other ones. So this these are the guys in the team that he should have been out there with a long time ago, at least had reps with.

01:15:14:03 - 01:15:24:01

Bo Scaife

But now he gets to play with the guy. So I don't expect he's a quarterback. Let's like quit. Yeah. Acting like he's not. He's a quarterback. Yeah. He can throw.

01:15:24:01 - 01:15:44:27

Brandon Krisztal

It. Yeah. Now you can see him sling the ball. Then you obviously had the success. You had both the Jacksonville State and here where he set whatever was 100 records in Boulder where they've had some good quarterbacks and some Heisman caliber quarterback. But Kordell was a great quarterback, coach Detmer among others. All right. So looking at the other game that afternoon window that I think a lot of people will be watching my hometown Cowboys at 4 or 5 and one.

01:15:44:27 - 01:16:03:16

Brandon Krisztal

You know, Chris Harris touched on it. The defense is improved. I don't I don't think they're good yet. And Dak has a great record against the NFC East and against the Eagles. But a lot of that was against a crappier version of the Eagles. What's his record in recent years against Eagles. Not as good. Nonetheless I think the Cowboys will play it tough there.

01:16:03:16 - 01:16:08:17

Brandon Krisztal

Actually I think it was two and a half point underdogs at home. How do you see it playing out though there Jerry.

01:16:08:17 - 01:16:22:13

Bo Scaife

Well I think Saquon hasn't had a breakout game yet. And I think him sitting there and watching film and watching this Cowboys defense and is like I'm running for 200. But he has not had a breakout game yet.

01:16:22:19 - 01:16:28:13

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson may not be enough to keep Saquon from getting loose because the rest of the defense still sucks.

01:16:28:16 - 01:16:47:00

Bo Scaife

I mean, some of the defense that we've seen the Cowboys this year play is atrocious. And you know obviously they're going to point the finger at Jerry. He is a lot of the blame. They still haven't fixed it I mean yeah they played a few games better. But Saquon.

01:16:47:03 - 01:16:48:26

Speaker 3

Yeah.

01:16:48:28 - 01:17:05:07

Brandon Krisztal

I'm going to pick the Cowboys just to be different from you. But but you know you know they'll say I will not be surprised. But you know the Cowboys with that offense. They can at least go toe to toe. And the Eagles if they can figure out a way to keep Saquon in check. The Eagles passing offense is is not in sync.

01:17:05:07 - 01:17:07:06

Brandon Krisztal

Totally. As we've seen. Yeah.

01:17:07:06 - 01:17:08:15

Bo Scaife

But it can be.

01:17:08:15 - 01:17:09:18

Brandon Krisztal

Sure it's actually consistency.

01:17:09:19 - 01:17:27:18

Bo Scaife

And they can light it up. Well you know they haven't. But it's not like they're not capable of like these guys have have ran through teams like hurts has thrown for 303 touchdowns. He has amazing receivers. So they haven't clicked yet as a whole offense. And that's the dangerous thing that everyone should be worried about when they do it.

01:17:27:18 - 01:17:43:19

Bo Scaife

But they're still winning. So that's testament to their offense and their defense and their special teams, because defense isn't giving up enough points to make them lose, and the offense is scoring just enough to keep them in the game and to win in the end. So you know, they're not turning them over the ball crazy. They're not doing things to lose them games.

01:17:43:21 - 01:17:48:27

Bo Scaife

And that's a dangerous team because when they are on on time and in sync, then what.

01:17:48:29 - 01:18:05:20

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. The then they're back in the Super Bowl. And how about this are still eight and two. Even with their similar to the Broncos their offense is kind of sputtering along. Vic Fangio's defense doesn't attack the way the way Vance Joseph does. But they're so good up front with all those Georgia players. They really are. It's like Georgia George.

01:18:05:22 - 01:18:14:04

Brandon Krisztal

It is, you know, and those dudes get after it. Just in their defensive front. So my heart may be getting in the way of this pick. I'm not going to bet it or come anywhere near that.

01:18:14:06 - 01:18:29:16

Bo Scaife

Listen, we saw with the Cowboys are capable of, like, they can strike quick. They can strike often. You know, you let that get on fire with those receivers. You know you're going to have to play in. So that is the advantage that they do have. They can come out and jump on the Eagles and make the Eagles play from behind.

01:18:29:16 - 01:18:36:22

Bo Scaife

That's not something they're very, very comfortable with. But if you don't you know you don't. You don't want to have to do that on the other side or reverse it. Yeah.

01:18:36:22 - 01:18:53:13

Brandon Krisztal

And because they'll just get after you and the been but don't break one even been the, the Sunday night game I think in some ways could be a game of the week candidate. The bucks have dropped two tough ones in a row and they've got the Panthers went to the Panthers last on their heels. They're six and four.

01:18:53:13 - 01:19:08:11

Brandon Krisztal

Panthers are six and five. So technically the bucks because they don't have the one last loss or ahead of them. But they go to a Rams team that a lot of people have no problem with putting in the Super Bowl. You know, without Aaron Donald, they rework that defense draft to the Florida State kids and they're getting after it.

01:19:08:11 - 01:19:15:08

Brandon Krisztal

And Davante Adams resurgence with now a healthy Nacua Sean McVay and that offense and Stafford kind of ageless.

01:19:15:15 - 01:19:33:07

Bo Scaife

They're the scariest team in the NFL right now. The Rams are I don't think anyone wants to play them in the postseason. You know if you had to take a pic of, you know, who is peaking at the right time and who has the best chance, I mean, that's a safe pick. But I love Baker, I really do.

01:19:33:07 - 01:19:46:11

Bo Scaife

I don't think they can always keep it close, and they have the team to keep it close. But then that's going to be a tough one to win in LA. And you know, the especially coming off that heartbreaker last week against Buffalo.

01:19:46:14 - 01:19:58:13

Brandon Krisztal

So I imagine Baker is high on the list of kids who you're like how did he not end up playing for the Longhorns when he's at tech he's a no you, but an Austin kid who I'm sure would have loved to have gone and played there.

01:19:58:13 - 01:19:59:19

Bo Scaife

Sure they'll blame. I'm sure they'll blame.

01:19:59:26 - 01:20:05:21

Brandon Krisztal

They blame Mac. Yeah, most of those blaming Drew Brees to blames Mac like they didn't recruit him the same. You know it.

01:20:05:21 - 01:20:06:25

Bo Scaife

Just it's a tough job man.

01:20:06:25 - 01:20:20:04

Brandon Krisztal

It is a tough job. You can't you can't hit on all of them when you you're picking five stars all over the place. You can't hit on on every one of them okay. But so rams are six and a half point favorites. I don't know if they're touchdown better than the bucks, but I have a hard time.

01:20:20:11 - 01:20:37:20

Brandon Krisztal

And look Rams have more fans in L.A. than the Chargers do. But it's not a dominant home field advantage. Tampa doesn't have the fan base that's going to fly there exactly either. You know, it's not it's it's not the Broncos in LA. It's not the bears or the Packers or Cowboys or Steelers, but so who end up winning that game?

01:20:37:20 - 01:20:38:15

Brandon Krisztal

Because I'm gonna pick the Rams.

01:20:38:16 - 01:20:42:03

Bo Scaife

I'm taking the Rams too. Yeah. And I, I do think they're going to beat us now okay.

01:20:42:05 - 01:20:46:23

Brandon Krisztal

All right. Well, what surprised me. Right a 3124 game you.

01:20:46:23 - 01:21:01:14

Bo Scaife

Don't want to get, like, if it's hard when they're hot to slow them down, you know? So you you have to play that, you know, one for one. If they score, we got to go score. And that's not a good position to be in as as an offense you want to be able to slow them down so you can't slow them down.

01:21:01:14 - 01:21:06:23

Bo Scaife

Then you have to, you know, take your game to another loss. And that's a lot to ask, you know for the both offense.

01:21:06:26 - 01:21:25:05

Brandon Krisztal

And look I like Todd Bowles but I like Sean McVay more in his creativity and just the personnel that they have. When you look at those backs and and obviously with what Matt Stafford's able to do those white House the final game to look at is a game that I know means more to you because of your relationship with Kyle Shanahan, who you've been friends with.

01:21:25:07 - 01:21:34:11

Brandon Krisztal

You know, he's one of your best friends since they were kids. And then you got to play together at Texas. Obviously, when he did you get there that he transferred back. By the time you got there or transferred there.

01:21:34:11 - 01:21:37:11

Bo Scaife

He transferred there, the second semester of my freshman.

01:21:37:11 - 01:21:57:00

Brandon Krisztal

Year. Okay. So he was there. Yeah. Yeah. See you all were there together somehow because you touched on their injuries? No. Fred Warner, the best tackling linebacker in football, know Nick Bosa, who's obviously one of the best edge guys right now. You may never play another down for them game. We really talk about that guy. Christian's been pretty healthy.

01:21:57:00 - 01:22:16:10

Brandon Krisztal

Thankfully Trent Williams has. But the quarterback, whether it was Brock Purdy and he's been banged up I think you could see a difference. Though. Mac Jones has played really well. They are seven and four and they are a touchdown favorite over the Panthers, who I think are maybe surprising. Even more folks like Kyle. Figuring this out is surprising.

01:22:16:10 - 01:22:18:12

Brandon Krisztal

Not as surprising as the Panthers being six and five.

01:22:18:14 - 01:22:34:25

Bo Scaife

I think he knows this is like what they call a trap game. You know, they want to be one of those teams that, you know, are heating up. And I think they are right now. I think Brock, you know, needed that game last week. That was a good win for him. And you know, he played amazing. You know he wants to start stacking wins.

01:22:34:27 - 01:22:50:06

Bo Scaife

You know signing a contract in the offseason. So I mean now he's trying to prove his worth now. So they know that's going to be a tough game though. I mean, Carolina is a tough team. They're not a pushover like everyone you know thought they were. And they're playing good right now as well. So it's not a game you can overlook.

01:22:50:06 - 01:22:54:05

Bo Scaife

You've got to go out there and play your best and you know, hopefully squeak, squeak away with one.

01:22:54:08 - 01:23:02:17

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. Do you see the Niners winning by that touchdown or just, it's a close game. Yeah, I think to me, a close game to the Panthers have played nothing but close games. Just about all year long.

01:23:02:17 - 01:23:07:27

Bo Scaife

And they like they know how to play the ugly game and keep a close. I mean I'm talking about, you know, 3 or 4 points.

01:23:07:29 - 01:23:17:06

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah I think I'm there with you though. But it's hard to pick against the Niners at home. And now with with Brock. Pretty healthy. How often do you talk to Kyle during the season? I know Kyle's he's bunkered down.

01:23:17:06 - 01:23:24:05

Bo Scaife

We text, you know, our our season relationship is is text. You know, it's always in the off times, you know, like.

01:23:24:08 - 01:23:27:10

Brandon Krisztal

Well, you know, he's in the office, you're near his phone. You know, he's busy.

01:23:27:16 - 01:23:37:12

Bo Scaife

He's going to like something in the group chat or something like that. But, you know, we're all waiting for him. And, you know, we know when to, you know, when to poke them in, when to kind of just fall back. So you have.

01:23:37:12 - 01:23:41:13

Brandon Krisztal

Two separate group chats, a Denver group chat, and then a Longhorns group chat.

01:23:41:13 - 01:23:42:27

Bo Scaife

Yeah, I got I got like 3 or.

01:23:42:27 - 01:23:57:09

Brandon Krisztal

4 with the wood. Do you have the tattoo that those dudes all have to. Yeah. Okay. So y'all all have the same tattoo. It's worth noting I'm going to do this off top of my head. Chris Simms, beau Kyle Shanahan Roy Williams has one. No, no BJ.

01:23:57:11 - 01:23:58:00

Bo Scaife

Rod Babers.

01:23:58:00 - 01:23:58:23

Brandon Krisztal

Rod Babers the.

01:23:58:23 - 01:24:00:19

Bo Scaife

Cornerbacks guy is Montrell flowers.

01:24:00:19 - 01:24:09:29

Brandon Krisztal

Oh so it's not BJ or Sloan okay as a matter of flowers last one okay y'all have a W because y'all like that movie the wood or somebody like that. You were.

01:24:10:04 - 01:24:21:05

Bo Scaife

Yeah. We were all you know we that was kind of what we named ourselves after the. Yeah. You know, I was at a charity meeting one time and, one of the guys said, is kind of like a Brokeback Mountain type thing.

01:24:21:08 - 01:24:23:20

Brandon Krisztal

Well, you have each other's numbers. I. Right? All five Jersey.

01:24:23:21 - 01:24:28:10

Bo Scaife

Always got each other's initials on. Oh. So I could see how someone was saying that you got to make amends and this was on you.

01:24:28:10 - 01:24:29:13

Brandon Krisztal

It's a friendship.

01:24:29:14 - 01:24:31:16

Bo Scaife

Hey, we were 21 years old, and, you.

01:24:31:16 - 01:24:33:03

Brandon Krisztal

Know, and 100% sober.

01:24:33:03 - 01:24:35:17

Bo Scaife

Shout about. Shout out my guys the wood.

01:24:35:20 - 01:24:40:02

Brandon Krisztal

Because it is funny. You know, I don't think I'll wear shorts that often. But, yeah.

01:24:40:05 - 01:24:42:07

Bo Scaife

This is the weakest one because he got it on his ankle.

01:24:42:07 - 01:24:51:23

Brandon Krisztal

Yeah. As, maybe, you know, he's going to be. Did you know that? Because obviously a good high school player and you don't want to ever tell anybody that going to be a pro, but did you know Kyle would be a coach.

01:24:51:26 - 01:25:11:04

Bo Scaife

Yeah. I mean, I wanted him to try out for the pros. I was I mean we had the discussion like bro, you might as well I mean, to crack the line about Texas is, you know, a white slot receiver, you know, was really tough to do. But he came in there and he made every receiver and every guy an offense better.

01:25:11:04 - 01:25:24:18

Bo Scaife

You know, he was helping the coaches out. You know, he saw things that, you know, we didn't see as players. He was teaching all of us and stuff. And then you know, I remember personally just coming home and working out with recruiting, you know, in the summers and just learning how the pros were doing it at a young age.

01:25:24:18 - 01:25:29:11

Bo Scaife

And, you know, all thanks to him. So, you know, shout out to that family and to Kyle.

01:25:29:13 - 01:25:39:19

Brandon Krisztal

Well, a lot of shout out to you, Bo. We've covered a lot of ground here since you came in and talk to us again to tell folks, all Pro Farms, you guys have products and dispensaries all all around.

01:25:39:20 - 01:25:46:11

Bo Scaife

Well, that's that's changing that little bit because we got our own dispensary now. So you're just pro cannabis, okay. 1233 West Alameda.

01:25:46:11 - 01:25:48:00

Brandon Krisztal

Country, I don't know if we can say that legally, but we can unofficially make it the official. So, like, we're the official podcast. I just did the unofficial project of your Denver Broncos. So as always, beaut. Great to see it. Thanks to David and John behind the glass. Doing a great job. David Levine and John Allison keeping us, rolling here on the air.

And of course, Chris Harris Jr. It wouldn't be this show without my man Strap Harris, the All-Decade player future ring of Famer. Thanks. And again if you're Chris Tees we are working have Von Miller a small to potentially big part of the show next week on Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving. So stay tuned for that as well.
